I searched but could not find a direct answer to this.

Does anybody know, or has anybody actually done a tire swap to a larger width on stock wheels. I already burned my tires up nearly bald, so its gonna be tire changing time soon.

Will a 265mm or a 275mm width tire fit on all four corner without rubbing? On the front, it looks as if a tie-rod or some strut piece or something is VERY close to rubbing the front tires. I definatly do not want any strut rub, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Todd

I assume you are using the stock wheels. If so I do not think you can go any wider in the front without a spacer to get away from the suspension. The rims will hold 275 rubber no problem and rear clearance will not be a problem.

275 is the widest I would go on an 8" rim. 265 would probably be best IMO. I would go with the factory size in front and 265-275 in the rear.

just so you know THE STOCK TIRES RUB..

in rear if you lower the truck on the inside of the fenderwell rubs on the inside of the tire and thats stock. You could just cut the plastic out a little and would be ok but then with a 275 45 would rub again. even if you keep the truck at stock height when you come down on full compression with 275 45 it will rub.

i can get you guys pics if you need it. and you can check it for yourself. check out how close the inner front of the tire is to the front fenderwell

I'm probably not as smart as most of these guys, but I think it all depends on the offset of the rims. I'm rollin on 295/30/24 's and the wheels have a 6 inch lip! and they don't really rub. but I'm an idiot. good luck!

just what's there. the right rear rubs occasionally, but not enough for me to worry to much. I did grind it down a lil,

yah rear is offset a little. now what kit are you running and on the inside of the fenderwells there is no rubbing especailly in the front

I rolled the front fenders, and I have the Belltech 2/3 kit with the nitro action shocks in the rear. it doesn't rub in the front anymore , unless I go 4 bying....:D

so it sounds like i need to get wheels with a lower offset to get wider wheels without rubbing. i dont care about the diameter of the wheels, 20" is more than enough.
