bass222000 06-22-2006, 09:29 AM Hey guys....any of you who have and have installed the Diablo Predator Programmer please help. What tune did you install that gave you the most power, and did you mess with any of the parameters such as RPM limit, and Power Enrichment inparticular?? Please help, I want the most bang for my buck with this thing.....Thanks
Obsessed 06-22-2006, 10:52 AM Do a search. There is a long thread with lots of info and experience on it.

93 Octane performance tune.
bass222000 06-22-2006, 04:46 PM Mine says 91 octane tune. it doesn't have a 93 octane tune option.
vetruck 06-23-2006, 01:21 AM :undecided hmm, call diablo sport if no one chimes in here to help and ask why you don't have a 93 octane tune for a truck that uses premium stock when you live in GA not CA?? Mabey DS didn't write a tune for 93 but I doubt it. In the mean time I would upload the 91 tune, drive it, advance timing 1-2 (I'd go 2) degrees and see what the difference is. If it's written for 91, you'll be fine advancing it 2 degrees. This of course is assuming that you are running 93 octane already or will be at least.

They don't state what octane the "Diablo Tune" is. Is there a way to find out?
bass222000 06-23-2006, 11:40 AM what do you mean by "advance timing"? Is that the "power enrichment" feature on there, or is that something else I need to look under on the predator when Im loading the tune?
vetruck 06-25-2006, 05:06 AM Ok, if there is an option for 91 octane, separate from the regular performance tune, I would assume that the performance tune is for 93 octane since that is what the truck uses except in CA. The 91 option may just be for CA owners. Anyway, if you upload the 91 tune and are using 93 octane, there is room to advance the timing. Upload the tune. Drive the truck to make sure everything is good. Plug the Predator back in and go to Modify Tune, from there accept the disclaimer, and proceed to Global Timing adjustment. From there go +2 degrees on the timing. Exit the menu and it should ask if you want to load the tune now. Choose Yes and follow the instructions. Now your not wasting octane, money, and performance. You can go higher if you like but if you get any pinging, back the timing off by a degree or two.
bass222000 06-25-2006, 05:30 PM thanks!!!! I have been trying for a while to get some help with this thing.
Obsessed 06-25-2006, 05:34 PM You guys must have a different one than me. I don't have a 93 tune or an option for "Global Timing". It's just says spark timing, then gives the RPMs. I reset mine back to the Diablo tune until I figure it out further.
bass222000 06-25-2006, 05:35 PM is spark timing the same as global enrichment?
Obsessed 06-25-2006, 05:38 PM is spark timing the same as global enrichment?
Enrichment is how lean or rich you want it. Running it richer means more fuel, running it lean is more air. Timing and enrichment are too different things. I am still trying to find out how they play a part so I have a better idea how to adjustment them.
bass222000 06-25-2006, 05:45 PM I meant on the handheld itself as far as the options in the Modify parameters section while programming. I don't think I have the "global enrichment" feature on mine either. Just says...."Diablo tune", "Factory HP Tune", and "91 octane tune". I can then go in and modify each of these tunes. Still trying to find the best combination on this thing.
Obsessed 06-25-2006, 06:07 PM Just do the Diablo Tune for now. It is a good tune and will give you most of what you want. Honestly, the more I think about it, without a dyno and an experienced person< I doubt I will be able to get anything more out of the tune. With lots of luck and without a dyno, I doubt I would see more than 4 extra hp. The chances out weigh the slim chance I could get a little hp.
I am just keeping it where it was. I was happy with it, so I won't mess with it anymore.
I think the Diablo tune IS the 93 octane tune. As far as global enrichment, I don't have that option either, but do have the power enrichment option which I beleive to be the same thing. This option adds or removes fuel at WOT.
On another subject, I did the data log and looked at the air/fuel ratio reading and it said it was over 16 at the upper rpm's. Scared the heck out of me so I put the stock tune back in and read it again. It still was telling me over 16. I think whatever calculation they are using is way off. I really don't trust this thing or myself enough to tune it myself. I'm just going to save up for a vector cai and tune. Just my thoughts.

Yes someone else posted here some strange A/F measurments. His were getting leaner as he added more fuel. I don't think it's accurate. I doubt very highly that DS would write a leathal tune though. With A/F's like that you probably would have done some damage already. I can't see how it could be accurate. Anyway, with the predator, I have not used this specific one yet so the terminology seems to be a little different. Any way, timing is timing so you can play a little with that I would think since they make the tunes very safe to account for differences in vehicles etc. I wouldn't play with much else since you can't adjust the entire fuel curve, only at WOT and I don't trust the datalog feature. This is a cheap, easy way to get better performance, it does not come close to a custom tune in performance or price so keep your expectations reasonable.

I agree, I am sure the tune is conservative. I still use the diablo tune. Good point on the custom vs. handheld tune. If you want to squeeze the most power from a tune, you gotta go custom.
