Hi Guys, I will be looking at getting a TravelTrailer soon and are wondering what size/weight you are towing? Alot of people say the TB/Envoy is not big enuff, and some are towing 28 foot TTs!
My '06 Envoy XL has I6 w/4:10 gears, locking diff, & load lev syst., I will be looking at getting a 24-26 Ft TT around 4000ish dry weight. I think it will handle it. Also, how does the load leveling system work with a heavy trailer on the back? Do we run with it off? Can it be turned off?:undecided
You should be able to tow it without any real problems. Probably the biggest issue is wind resistance with the large frontal area and cross winds at higher speeds. Add a transmission cooler though.

I have a 04 tb ext. I tow a 3200 lb(dry weight) tent trailer. I have no problems. My wife and I camp with another couple who also have a 05 tb lt. They tow a 4250 travel trailer and have had no problems...

As Rob said, get a tranny cooler installed before you tow it as that is a big trailer for the I6 to handle. It will handle it no problem, but it will have to work harder than the 5.3L V8 would.
As for the load leveling suspension, I dont know why you would want to turn it off, ever. It keeps the rear end at the same height, even when you hookup your trailer. I wish my TB had it, but it has never been offered until 06 on a TB, and it is only on the SS models too.

I was told that I need to shut it off ? when I attach the trailer to hook up the weight dist hitch so it will be level. I also worry that I will damage the compressor with the extra weight on the ball.

I just towed about 5000lbs (21' boat) 300 miles through the hills of Vermont. 05 Envoy I6 with 3.42. The car did great. Worst it got was 50mph in 2nd gear at 3500RPM up I climb near Stowe. The I6 has a very flat torque curve and is a great towing engine. You'll have no problems.

I'm towing on a regular basis a 2006 RockWood Roo 23RS TT. Its GVWR is 4900 or so MAX...just pulled it to Weare NH and back...65MPH towing in 3rd gear..You want to have the Weight Distribution Bars..I'll post a pic of my TB at the campground with my TT in the back ground.

I almost made me doubt my 'Voy. I cant wait to get my TT and prove them all wrong.
