OK here's a dumb question. How do you turn StabiliTrak on and off. The book says the button is on the shift handle. I can't find it.

Let the giggling start. :D NEVERMIND I FOUND IT

Isn't this just on the SS?

I remember the day I found that button too...never read the manual or anything. Had the TB for about a week and was just cruising down the road and grabbed the handle and all of a sudden the DIC flashed something about the traction control being off and I freaked out. Then I realized there was a button there and all was well again...

not as far as I know, I've got it on my ls.

To turn the trac controll off its just one push, and you will see it light up on your dash

to turn the stabilitrac off, hold the button down for about 5 seconds or so and you will see the trac light blink on the dash, then it goes to a steady on. That also turns off the regular traction control at the same time.

i dont drive untill I've turned them both off, can't stand them.

how come you dont drive until you turn them both off (TC and stability)? I didnt have this on my 04 but do on the 06 so I was wondering if it was for performance reasons or control?.

My Denali has the button and I think any vehicle these days would have a way to turn it or TC off.

I know there are performance gains (for experienced drivers) that turn stabitrak off. Maybe for towing? I know you turn TC off to allow slippage on ice to get moving.

My truck didn't come with an owners manual. It was fun when I first found that button,... I also freaked out for about 5 seconds and then realized. So, I have TC and stabilitrack? they are 2 different things? I thought I just had 1 thing going... Is the why when I turn it off, It will still flash when doing crazy stuff

Bringing this back alive!!!! So to shut off the Stabilitrak you press & hold the traction button. Does this work for the 07 also? I was trying to shut it off last snow, so I could play around, b/c with it on, there is no sideways at all!!!! All I got to say is the system does work very well, you won't get sideways or anything like it with the Stabilitrak on, even in snow or ice, it is amazing how it works!! But for fun every once in a while, I do like to shut it off, so this is the way???
Thanks!

Yeah, if you want to have any fun at all, you have to shut the nagging wife (i.e. Stabilitrac and TC) OFF.

Yes, it works on the o7 the same way. The traction control can be a bit annoying but the Stabilitrak does work quite well. It's nice though that it's easily overridden if you want to have fun. :woot:

I think the StabiliTrak/TC is great when driving at a decent speed down the road when you run into slick stuff that would normally send you fishtailing. But, at slow speeds, I think it sucks. Trying to go up a hill, or get moving when sometimes you just need to spin to get going, I think it hinders more than helps. Even in 4x4 if you start spinning, it can screw you up.

Just my :m2:

So glad I dont have them on my 02, if I get an SS Im going to do the mod so they turn off the second you start the SS. I dont want to deal with turning them off all the time, but do want to be able to use them some times. Plus it would be AWD so traction isnt as big of an issue as with 2WD or 4WD trucks as there is power all around all the time.
