View Full Version : Driver's side foot rest question
BLZR SS

OK, I've been wondering about the left foot rest area on the left side of the floor board near the brake peddle. It comes from the factory with carpeting and no other protection from ware. It seems to me that it will ware through quickly without some form of protection. I am paricularly concerned about the corner edge.
Does anyone know if there is a product made that could be used to protect the corner and foot rest pad?
Thanks

You are talking of the dead pedal area. I used diamond plate, cut it and bent it, and drilled screw holes.

I at least inverted them before install. I am waiting on my SS pedals to come in.

The Husky Liners (with the lips to contain liquid) cover the dead pedal just great. They can be found for sale many places on the internet. I also got the rear and cargo liners from Husky. They are REALLY saving my carpet from the winter slush so far!

02's (& maybe 03's) had a piece of rubber on the dead pedal. 04's and later don't. GM cost cutting, I guess.

Here's my solution, I aquired a piece of "BedRug" sample from a display at a local store It matches the carpet pretty good and then I added self-adhesive Velcro to the backside and just put it in place. The velcro doesn't hold the best for some reason maybe a different kind but, atleast I can remove the pad and vacuum under if desired. Here's some pictures:

Hi all,
Just wanted to chime in on the Husky Liner topic. I've had a set of CatchAll mats (same concept as Husky) in my Sonoma since 97 (same set through 2 trucks now actually). Some of the best money I've ever spent on an interior piece. I take them out and pressure wash then a couple times of the year and they still look good. Original carpet underneath looks like new.
Later!

you could do some Ultimate Pedals they are top notch and will protect what you want, they are expensive but they look very sick!!!!

I went to Ace and bought a flexible six foot black plastic baseboard strip for a couple of bucks. One side was flat, the other ribbed. Just cut to fit and spray some adhesive on the flat side. The strip gives you about four or five of them to use as replacements. I've had it on for two years now and it still looks good.

No idea why they ever got rid of the plastic part that came on the earlier models. I love having mine there as I always rest my foot there. If it wasn't there, I'd surely have a hole through the carpet.

go with the "ultimate pedals"! they're rather pricey, but head and shoulders above the others being offered,in my opinion!

I know yours is an old post, but I agree, Nifty Catch-Alls are are awesome products. Are you saying that they do indeed cover the dead pedal?

They do not cover the dead pedal. Look closely at this picture:

Sorry about the ancient thread resurrection, but does the pad on the 02-03 come off easily? I'd like one on my 06 but I don't want an aluminum one. Not a speed racer fan, just want black plastic or rubber. If they come off maybe I can find one at the junkyard, or I wonder if the dealer can get them

I think it's GM #15041231. Cheap. $14 at parts4chevys.com. Item #8.

$12 on gmpartsdirect, which seems to work more consistently than parts4chevys, but is that just the part of the rest that is under the carpet? From the diagram it looks like that is just the part to give the carpet its shape there, which I have, but not sure if that includes the plate to go on top of the carpet to set your foot on.

Well, after deciding I wanted a dead pedal but am unwilling to pay huge money just for somewhere to set my foot, I came up with a homemade solution. I'm working on it right now, hopefully in a couple days I'll post a picture.

Diamond plate from e-bay, a plasma cutter and two sided tape; you're in business.

I don't really consider the dead pedal to be a "feature" i want to draw that much attention to. I've never opened a car door and said "holy crap check out that awesome dead pedal" With that in mind, I wanted something that looked a little more stock than diamond plate. I'll work on it some more tonight but hopefully I'll get it installed by this weekend and I'll post some pics

Ok, got it done. I ended up making two, since i wasn't sure about the size i wanted to go with at first. The first pic shows both pedals I made. The thinner one has a slight imperfection in the paint, but not a big deal. I ended up deciding I wanted the larger surface area of my second attempt anyways. Its made from lexan polycarbonate, cut, sanded, cleaned up edges, drilled, and sprayed with truck bed liner for texture and durability. On a side note, anyone coming to the midwest meet that wants the slightly thinner one (its 9x3, same size as what was stock in the 02-03 TB) I'll bring it with me, and I have extra small black screws, You can have it installed in 5 minutes. Let me know what you guys think
