Hi,

I have taken my 2005 Trailblazer EXT 4X4 to have an output seal replaced again after 6 weeks. Is this a common problem? The information on the invoice was:

Part # 12471618

22018 Output shaft seal laking F1441 1.5 1.5-996 Lift vehicle and cleaned the oil and leak test found outputshaft seal leaking remove and replaced seal after repairs topped off the front diff fluid level to fatory spec and road tested vehicle and no leaks found at this time.

I did not expect it to fail so soon. Should I be concerned about it? A friend told me that the yoke may be scored and that is what is eating up the seal. I told this to the service advisor and he said that they checked the shaft and it looked fine.

If it happens a third time, it may be time to get rid of it.

Thanks,

JAlvarado

I have also had the same problems, At 40K the front pinion seal was replaced, at 46K the left(driver) seal was replaced and now at 56K the pinion seal has just been replaced for the second time. I would ask them to check the front differential vent tube next time you are in for service. I need to do the same.

Whats the easiest way for a DIY to get to the tube?
