I called K&N because I read a post that there was supposed to be a release date on an intake system for the TBSS. The person I spoke to knew nothing about it and had not even heard of one even being made.

So, sorry, for those of you who were actually waiting for it, it's not looking good at the moment.

Has ANYONE made one yet, other than those requiring a tune?

I understand there is one available that does not require a tune.

Anything worth putting on your truck IE makes more power will require a tune. Anyone claiming they have one that will make more power without removing the neck down is feeding you a line ;)

As said before, I would like to see numbers proving how much better yours is. I would like ot see a dyno on a stock car with intake, stock car with intake and a Diablo tune, then an intake with a tune only for the CAI, not a full tune. I am not saying yours won't be the highest, but I am willing to bet you only have it beat by a couple hp.

It has nothing to do with ours being better or making power it has everything to do with removing the neck down from the MAF we've posted numbers a gazillion times. Essque still has the dyno where his truck was at 14.2:1 at the top of a gear and then after tuning it made 12 more to the tires lol

Anything that doesnt remove that neck down wont make enough power to cover the cost and removing the neck down requires a tune thats just how it is man sorry :(

So are you saying I would not get 8hp from an intake and tune without the neck being replaced?

Ohh, thats a sure sign of a great product. At that point, who cares if they make one?

Heh. I may reiterate what GTPprix said here. Think of it as a simple equation. More air = lean, more fuel = rich. More air + more fuel = more combustion.. More combustion equals more power. There is an equilibrium to the equation. Offset the equilibrium too much and bad stuff starts to happen. ie too lean, too rich.

(According to the above equation/logic): If a CAI claims that it doesn't need a tune then it is also saying "I don't make any difference."

And it won't. We aren't lying to you. But, you can do a couple things.. Buy a good cai and put a shirt around the filter (jk). Offset the lean condition with a full exhaust system (and verify on a dyno - might work). Whatever you do to offset this lean condition, you are indeed tuning the car. However, it seems a company has found this cars equilibrium and is very good at maintaining it according to given mods. Even more, many are happy with it - why divert from that route?

Edit: Have to ask GTPprix.. Has anyone tested A/F with CAI, full exhaust, and no tune? Although they would not make as much power as they would when tuned (and thats the clear, proven TRUTH), would the A/F be within the realm of "acceptable" in terms of safety (ie NOT 14.2:1)?
