View Full Version : Dual exhaust, I am in love!!

Got my dual exhaust today, it sounds incredible. They cut out the wye and added short pieces over the cross member, then 2 1/2" x 6" flex couplings to a Dynamax Ulta X-Flo muffler w/ dual in-dual out, then a pair of 2 1/2" pipes over the rear end to 2 1/2" x 12" bullet resonators and dual rectangular tips. It is just mean sounding. I forgot my camera when I went to the muffler shop, so the pics are laying underneath the truck. I couldn't get a clear picture of over the rear end piping.
It was done by Performance Exhaust in Las Vegas for $900.00 complete.

Here is a video and sound clip.

If it helped performance, I can't really tell. The sound is so bitch'in that it makes you believe that it added +50hp, but honestly if it gave me 8 to 10hp, it was worth it because it sounds so great. It doubled the enjoyment of driving. I am like a little kid again.:D :D :D

From what we can see, it looks pretty cool....too bad you didn't have your camera when it was on the lift, though.

Sound level is not to bad on the interior. I haven't been on the highway yet at a constant cruise speed but I also haven't held my foot steady since I rolled off the lift!!!

Can you tell me wear you purchased the dual exhaust kit for the rear facial kit. Is there a prefered website that has after market products for the SS.
Thanks for your time.
The exhaust looks great.

It was custom cut for his application. There is no dual exhaust cutout kit available at this time.

I was not happy with the single tip duals and the cutout...I really like the dual, duals..but I STILL say when someone puts a pair of megaphones on the dual setup it will resemble the concept and Look SICK....

That really sounds awesome. I'm thinking of driving up from Los Angeles to have it done. Can I get the phone number for them and who I should talk to? How long did it take to do the whole job.
Thanks

I just got the vid to work here at work, sounds great man. Do you have some shots from further back from the truck that you could post so we can get a real good idea of how it looks.
TIA,

Installation was a team effort - talk to the Owner - just tell them you want the Trailblazer SS Duals - it cost $900.00 and change and took them 4 1/2 hrs. They will need to order parts so give them a call and set up an appointment. You might have to buy parts first with a credit card over the phone.

Very nice setup, looks really mean!!
How is the sound level compared to stock, I know it sounds meaner, but is it louder or a LOT LOUDER??
And, all the dual exits for exhaust in the bumper are custom one-offs done by the owner or a shop. No one makes a dual exit bumper although I could probably do it and make some extra dough. The only thing is that everyone probably wants the cutouts in slightly different spots for their exhaust (ie single vs. dual tips, etc) so it would be tricky to do.

THAT SOUNDS GOOD! Just wondering how that setup would sound with flowmasters and no resonators? Wait aren't flows pretty much the same muffler as magnaflows?

Crapmasters are no where near Magnaflow
Where do people get this info from?

why is magnaflow better? I like dynomax mufflers, what do you think about those?

Dynomax Ultra X Flo mufflers are straight thru design. With the X Flo you have the X pipe built into the muffler for the additional torque and very very little back pressure. A single 2 1/2" Flowmaster will only handle 400 - 450 hp with no power drop because of the muffler. The Dynomax 2 1/2" X Flow will easily handle 550hp before you will see a power drop from the muffler (open vs. capped exhaust)
Flowmaster mufflers are not in the same class as Magnaflow and Dynomax striaght through mufflers.

Sounds better, better quality. Don't like Dynomax either. Gibson sucks too.
Only ones I buy are
#1 Borla
#2 Corsa
#3 Magnaflow
Ones I wouldn't mind trying
#1 ZOOMERS
#2 Stainless Works

Well, as my Magnaflow on my TB is the only aftermarket system I have ever had put on, I really like the sound. Sure, its too LOUD for me (different than resonating), but I like the straight-through design of the muffler. Sounds like the dynomax muffler is similar.

I really like the X Flo part of the Dynomax:

You can do a proper dual exhaust in one half the lenght than if you used a Magnaflow and an x-pipe configuration. I couldn't have kept the flex pipes if I had used a Magnaflow and an x-pipe, not enough room under the truck to still keep it clean.

Has anyone looked at using the Borla XR-1 series mufflers? They are rather expensive for a SS race muffler (might be too loud for some) but seem to have good flow properties.
There's a couple of guys with f-bodies that have used them succesfully.
