Here is the basic design of the dual exhaust system. It would be for any Trailblazer with a V8 engine. Any competent muffler shop can build it. The parts can be ordered from http://www.Summitracing.com if the shop you pick doesn’t have the stuff.
Dynomax Ultra X Flo Muffler Part No.WLK-17553 $129.95 ea
Dynomax 2 ½” x 12” Bullet Mufflers Part No.WLK-24215 $33.88 ea
Summit Flex Joint 2 ½” x 10” Part No.SUM-642510 $37.95 ea
Pep Boys 3A Racing Dual Rectangular Tips $29.95 ea
Pipe and labor should run $500.00 to $600.00.
This mod is worth every penny even if you get zero horsepower increase. The sound is hypnotic. You will never want to get out of the truck.

Very nice writeup, but why 2 1/2" pip? Thats smaller than stock on an SS and all regular TBs? I can understand going to 2.5" on an I6 or 5.3L, but on the LS2 I would only go with 3".

The stock is a single 2.75" pipe. This is dual 2 1/2" pipes. It will easily handle 550HP without a power loss from the exhaust system.

Duh, I spaced and forgot this is a dual setup. If it was a single setup, 3" is the way to go, but for duals 2.5" is right. My bad.:duh:
And, the stock pipe on an SS is 3" all the way back, regular TBs its 2.75".

gonna cost u more than that, who's cutting the rear valance? how mucha re they charging u for that? where's your spare tire ,your diagram is missing it.where is your x pipe ? duals without one are worthless!my shop would do it for $350.00 including muffler and pipes and ends but i dont want that pipe near my spare or my gas tank.
i use single flowmaster muffler 3" pipe to 5" exit. want loud:D

X Flo mufflers provides a better torque curve than a x-pipe, the spare is in the factory location, heat shields are simple and quite effective for controlling heat scatter, the x-flow and bullet mufflers are straight through and provide you the rumble of a big block. Cut outs on the bumper cover is the cost of a roll of masking tape and a $30.00 dremel tool, oh sorry, and 50 cents for the marker!
I prefer a dual exhaust period. In my opinion, no matter how hard you try or what combination of mufflers and resonators you use, a single exhaust will always have that 'sissy' sound to it, they will never sound like there is anything under the hood.
Uh... on my 5.7L GTO I had 3" duals all the way back...
Listen here...

I would at least try to do 3" al the way back. Especially if you are planning on doing headers.

Happen to have the dyno chart for that?
Thanks.

nice setup. I also prefer duals over a single. More for the look than anything though. I like things to be symetrical.

Exactly, cars always look better symetrical in the back..just cleaner

Thanks for the writeup and diagram Supercoolin. I think the system is great the way it is. That system would not be a resticion until 550 to 600 hp. I will definitly refer to this if I decide to go custom duals. Thanks again! :)

i beg to differ. i have a custom exhaust (single) and it definitely doesn't sound wimpy or have a sissy sound to it. i can e-mail the sound clips to you. one other thing, i like your set-up. but if i didn't, i wouldn't degrade it.

I agree, my comments were in response to the nasty comments from AJSZR2326 and had nothing to do with your ride, exhaust choice is purely to the user. What I like for sound is not necessarily what the other guy likes. It doesn't matter one way or the other.

good friend of mine owns Corsa Exhaust.
He told me the 3" pipe system on the firebirds make less HP than the 2.5" but everyone wants 3" pipe, so that is what they sell.
dual 2.5's will FLOW a lot of exhaust...

You are absolutely dreaming. A Borla single catback sounds mean.

Well tell your friend to get busy!!! I have had Corsa products on 3 vehicles and I am getting tired of waiting for them to develop something for the TBSS!!! :hissy:

I wonder if it would be possible to have this setup with close to stock sound? I'm not looking for much noise, just the dual look.

with the right mufflers you can have it close to stock sound but it might be alittle louder
have you been in an SS with an exhaust??? once you hear one with a mild exhaust note you will want one!!!
