I ofuns someone willing to help me swap my 2wd drivetrain out for a 4wd drivetrain out of a wrecked 04, so the project will start in a couple of weeks, Im moving the hell out of vegas in a couple of weeks. so I kinda need my truck. but itll work out finethis way i can have my cake and eat it too. now im wondering about some lockers for the front hubs. and maybe a good 2 or 3 inch lift. th elift is probably wishfull thinking. would be nice though. now some folks might think it aint worth it, but look at it this way my TB has exactly everything i want cept the 4wd. and I know my truck how it runs, and i dont want to get another used one and have the possibility itll be a lemon. so my total project is only gonna run me about another 6 grand. so ill have exaclty 21,000 in my truck total.

it will be tough.............what all does your donor vehicle have?

it may be more simple to swap the whole engine front diff out........as its all one piece.

The donors basically my truck but wrecked its a whole truck it runs and drives, it was just totaled by the insurance co. i think it said 3.73 gears and the entire drivetrain, all I want is the 4wd components, i dunno i kinda like my gearing set up, at 90 on the interstate im only running about 2500 rpm. its red, says rebuildable, but im just gonna gut it then sell the body for scrap. since all tbs are basically the same, everything bolts right back up. i know ive showed these pics before, but im gonna do it again, if youll look at the pic of my dash where the wires are hanging, in a 4wd thats the switch plug, and my wheel hubs are already geared for axles, ive been everyhwere tryin to figure this out, and i finally did, its gonna take some time but itll work out good in the end, AND I WILL HAVE THE MEANEST FORD EATING SPORT UTILITY MONSTER OUT THERE!

Just to let you know, there are no front lockers available at all. And, a 2-3" lift will have you eating CV joints every few months.

And one very useful option is the G80 rear automatic locker. If you or the donor truck has this, you'll be a lot more successful on the trail with no front locker. I know there are a few trails I would have needed a strap assist on (or a self-winch) to get up if I hadn't had the G80.

My lazy butt would just keep the wrecked TB as a beater, then the good one could stay in the garage while it snowed. Good luck with the swap though, it's pretty cool that you're taking on such a difficult project.

I wonder if its possible to make some lockers work, I had a nissan hardbody with locking front hubs and a locking rear diff. all four wheels pulled all the time, you couldnt get that thing stuck, I buried it in sand past the bumper and still got out, so lockers would be awesome, I took my tb out in the desert hills this weekend and went through some pretty nasty stuff i was sure was gonna get me stuck but the tb just kept goin, and goin, so im cant wait to see how it is in 4wd, I already ordered the tires they are bf goodrich wild trails 265 70 16s and they will fit under my truck just like it is,anybody ever heard of cooper tires radial stt? go to coopertires.com and check em out they are awesome tires
