sup guys,

just need a little info about the TB's tranny. I know the tranny number is 4L60E but I need to know if all 4L60E trannies are the same. I just bought a tranny upgrade kit from Transgo Performance and need to know if it's compatible with our TB's. I bought the part from TrucksPerformance.com and thought that it would fit on my tranny. The package states that it fits only up to 2000. Please help out a brother!!! Thanks a lot.

I would bet it won't work. But wait for somebody with more tranny experience to chime in.

I wouldn't use it unless it was specifically for my model year. Things do get tweaked from year to year. Call Transgo and ask!

What model is it? I bought the 4L60E HD2 shift kit from Oregon Performance Transmission and its great! I have a weird issue with my trans hunting in OD on the hwy, but Im pretty sure its not related to the kit at all. After checking my fluids today and changing the oil, I think its because I have low transmission fluid.:o

I looked online at Transgo Performance and the kit says that it fits 4L60E trannies from 98-05 models. But the box states differently. I have a hard time getting in touch with them because I live in Hawaii and hardly have time to call because of work and the time difference. It says 4L60E-C on the box. So if anyone knows what series tranny we have please hook a brother up with some info. thanks everyone for your feedback and advice. ALOHA!!!

Yeah, no kidding. Just figured it out yesterday. Needless to say Im pissed at myself for not checking it sooner. Thats after 4 trips to my cabin and back (300mi each way x2 x4trips + ~300mi for driving around there =) 2940mi! And, one of those was towing my boat home to Seattle!

Im ordering another oil filter from Amsoil tomorrow am along with some more oil and 4 qts of ATF.

Hey Erik. I looked at the HD2 shiftkit on OPT from TransGo. I know you have it installed and I was wondering if that would be a better option than the correction kit with .474 boost valve. heres the link to it: http://www.oregonperformancetransmission.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=OPTI&Product_Code=SUP-K4L60E-V&Category_Code=4L60ESK

I have had this TransGo kit (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=TRG-4L60E-HD2&N=700+400214+115&autoview=sku) installed both in my 2002 and now in my 2006 Trailblazer.

My mechanic said that there was a slight difference in the 2006 install but nothing significant. I also use it in conjunction with the Level 3 setting from the PCMforLess tune. The shifts may be too hard for some people's liking, but they are perfect for me.

The next step up from a kit and tune would be a complete transmission swap with this bad boy (http://racetransmissions.com/store/product_info.php/cPath/1_25_185_187/products_id/377).

wow, new record for oldest thread I've seen revived....

anyways, if you want to ask Erik a question, why not send him a pm? He is more likely to get that.

Thanks Alek. That looks to be the same one I was refering to plus its cheaper than I saw on OPT. I'm having a transmission shop put it in so as long as its compatible I'm good. I'd love really firm shifts too and was leaning towards a 2 or 3 on the shift firmness when I get the pcm tune. I just want to do these tranny mods first. Sorry KHill. I did a search for the shift kit and didn't realize I asked him on such an old thread. Do I get an award at least? haha

No worries, it was just a comment :D

Besides, people are more likely to get PM's than replies to old threads. The subscription will expire in the CP.

Ehh I never subscribe to threads anymore... But I ended up having my trans valve body torn apart by a transmission specialist who removed my shift kit. I didnt install it properly and was tired of it not shifting properly. Instead I got my Vette 1-2 servo installed properly and with a few mouse clicks my trans is shifting how it should. Its probably not as hard as AlekG's but its fast and firm under WOT and heavy throttle while being pretty tame under 3k rpms. You still get a bump with every shift under light throttle letting you know its not stock but its not neck snapping until you get into the throttle.

its not neck snapping until you get into the throttle.

I like it, now if only i could get my servo installed.... Parking lot is NOT the place to do it.

Haha, definitely not. I almost got my toes run over trying to fix an exhaust leak on my trans am in a parking lot.

Yep, I can do most stuff in the parking lot, but I draw the line when I need to get my TB on ramps or risk losing anything besides oil.
