my dealer said i need front sway bar link replacements. can anyone give me directions on how to do this myself rather than spending the money to have the dealer do it. i've been reading in the other posts that its an easy job to do. can i just start taking the old ones off and put the new ones on or do i have to do something with the suspension first? any help with the whole precedure would be greatly appreciated! thanks for the help.

I have not personally done it, but I believe it is unbolt top and bottom bolt, remove and put new in and replace nuts. Understand MOOG parts are the way to go, they will have a grease fitting.

The sway bar end-links aren't too bad to change out....and by all means, if you're out of warranty and buying them get the Moog parts!

The OEM end-links are a Royal Pain in the you know what. You'll need a 6mm allen wrench and I believe a 19mm HOLLOW socket or box-wrench. (The hollow socket or ratching box is preferred). You'll need to hold the inside (shaft) with the allen wrench from turning as you loosen or turn the nut and depending upon how tight it was installed it can be a knuckle buster....its not a difficult job, just a real PITA using then Allen/Hex wrench to hold the center. Once you get both nuts off the end-link, just manipulate them around until you get the shaft off the frame on one end and the sway-bar on the other. Assembly is exactly reversed.

Moog, GOD BLESS THEM, actually put a nut down on the bottom of the shaft to hold with an open end wrench....makes the re-assembly a whole lot easier than using the allen wrench. - Did I mention you should buy Moog parts?

Cheapest place to buy the links that I found was RockAuto.com and be carefull to order 1 left and 1 right, as they're not the same!

definitely easy and Rockauto is the place to get em. I did mine in less than an hour. The Moog ones come with grease fittings too.

Thanks SOOOOO much for giving some more detail on the install.... just wondering if the truck had to be lifted or if the changes could be made while it sits on the ground.

it'd be a hell of alot easier if you lifted the truck up...the bolts are a pain in the ass to undo...
