Hey duds, I'v been a looker for a few weeks now and decided to join your group. Here's the delema. I would like to lower my TB but can't decide which kit to get. I would like to have a little more stiffness in the suspenion, mostly the rear. The only reason for this is because I tow a boat. The boat is not real heavy (2200lb Jet boat) and I don't have a lot of tong weight. I'm also getting 20in eagles 219 series wheels and 45/275 Goodyears as well. I live by Fresno Ca and Mcgaughys is not that far from me http://www.mcgaughys.com/newproducts.html. I was going to try them because i bought lower kit from them before for my 69 C10 and love it. But what I'm worried about is 3in in the rear going to affect my towing, or should I go with 1.5in rear. DJM, Ebaich, GF and Mcgaughy is what I have to choose from. Also dose anyone make shocks for the TB that can possiable stiffin up the ride. Give me some input guys. Thanks

Yeah, the one thing the aftermarket has done well is build lowering kits for our platform. I know Belltech and GF are great kits. The others you mention are great quality also, but I have not seen their products first hand.

Based on everything I've heard, I'm going with the GF kit when that time comes, personally.

I have the Eibach kit.

IMHO some of the other kits dropped the rear a bit too much and with all the stereo stuff in the car, and dogs riding in the back, I didn't want it to be squatty.

The good - It definitely reduced body roll in the corners. It feels more stiff, but not overly so. With two people or less and an empty car, it's simply awesome.

The bad - Took forever to get. (3 months) I'm having issues with any weight in the rear. Les Schwab is looking into it at the moment, but it's kida baffeling. There is still plenty of travel in the rear, but when there are 3 or more people, or a load in the back, the rear suspension is very rough. It feels like the suspension is taking a run at the bump stops and hitting them hard when going over something like a speed bump. Les Schwab is working with Eibach to understand what the issue is and whether I need new shocks in the rear or an air bag kit.

Speaking of air bag kits....has anyone gone that route and fully bagged their Envoy? I'm talking the full blown, cab controlled, fully adjustable systems. That sounds like it would be the way to go, but I have no experience in that arena.

Edit - I should mentions that none of my pics show the suspension kit. I just had it done lin the last couple weeks. It definitely looks different lowered.

work in show, what is your lowering kit, 1.5 fr and 1.5 rear, let me know. You also stated that it rides ruff when loaded up. I just want to tow my boat and not bottom out and also look cool doing it as well.

Depending on where you look the kit is listed as either a 1.5/1.5 or a 1.5/2.0 drop. Either way, it's the same kit.

In reality, I think it dropped mine about 1.25" in the front and slightly more in the rear.

From what I've experience so far, I probably wouldn't tow much with it without first bagging the rear coils. It definitely looks killer though. I know it's definitely lower, now I can see on top of my roof when I walk up to the car.

I'll keep updating as I hear more back about my load issues.

For those of use with 4WD, is GF our only choice?

Do you have a problem pulling anything after the kit? I noticed you have a problem with people in the back. Does the GF kit do this also?

I can't speak on towing, but I had 5 people in my car last week (GF springs installed) and didn't notice too much sagging in the back, or any difference in ride quality for that matter. Granted the GF kit doesn't include struts.

go the GF springs on. I'm satisfied with the look of it and the way it rides with my 22's

I wa wondering if anyone has gotten a lot of knocking going over bumps with the GF lowering springs. I had my done at a shop and an allignment at the same time. I didn't read all the posts yet to see if anyone knows of this.

Do you mean bottoming out? I've bottomed out once or twice at highway speed going over a really bad pothole from construction. Otherwise, no.. no knocking usually.

Make sure they trimmed your bumpstops.. that might cause more bottoming than normal.

So it looks like good ol' Les Schwab has a good idea of what the issue is with my suspension. They believe it's the stock shocks bottoming out. I have an appt. to have the shocks replaced this Friday. If that's the case, I will be very happy since I definitely couldn't be happier with the look. It's definitely everything I was hoping for. :D
