So this is the story, The tires are at 35 psi and I wanted to put them at 40 cold. I used the compressor for the first 3 and got them to 40 but then the compressor shutoff (overheating protection I guess) so I go to the gas station. The damn nozzle cannot fill the tire with air?? no matter what. SO I went to fill it this morning with my compressor and I fill it up to 40. I go to check the other ones and they are at 35-37 again! WTF? I am using 2 gauges here So what is the problem??? Is there a check valve in these tires that stops uyou from going over 35 psi or something?????
thanks

I put mine all at 38psi cold with the onboard before I left on 1 1500 mile round trip. That was about 2.5 weeks ago and they are still around 36. Sorry I don't have any real advice for ya, but I thought I would share.:)
My guess would be that the air from the compressor isn't as cool as after the tires sat all night and the pressure went down as the air inside the tires cooled to ambient. That little onboard compressor needs to work its butt off to inflate a tire and I'd be willing to bet that the air gets heated passing through the compressor. Many Envoy owners have complained that their compressor isn't powerful enough to even fully inflate an air-downed tire to 32-35PSI.

I don't know of any check valve or anything else in there. I ran mine at 44 front and 40-42 rear for 5 months until I took it to a dealer(never again) for an oil change. They lowered the pressure to 35 psi all the way around. It is now back at 42 on all four tires. Good theory about the compressor, probably accurate.

Dealer personnel did their job. Door sitcker says 35#. If you wanted 42, you could have just told them not to change the air pressure.
