how hard do you think it would be to turn a AWD ss to a 2WD from the looks of it i can remove the transfer case, buy a longer drive shaft and go:confused: What do you all think:)

I wouldn't do that if I were you because you don't know what else may be affected by the transfer case being removed.
Wouldn't it be less trouble to just go buy a 2WD TBSS? :undecided
When I had my C6 vette I said to myself if this thing had 4wd I'd be able to lock the tires every time I hammered it. I lost plenty of street races because the back tires would break loose way too easily. After a few mods I'd just be spinning the rear wheels on the TB (minus traction control) with 2wd, I love my 4wd, awesome traction.

Vette was 1200+lbs lighter..My SS just squats and goes...even leaving at 1800-2000...airbag/rr suspension is stout for drag racing..

When your 2wd tbss is in the 11's like his vette, it'll break the tires loose just the same. Compare the Syclone/Typhoon's to S-10/Blazer's with the same horsepower, the SyTy's will win every time, AWD is also the only reason the WReX is remotely quick.

yeah, and the diff and the trans will still be where they belong..
anyone who believes these trucks (AWD) will be able to hold up under those situations are mislead...these trucks are near 5k lbs, put a couple of people in there and we're talking 52-5400lbs, it would be like running your Vette on Slicks all the time..it aint gonna last too long with any prolonged low speed launches..tire slippage is giving the breakable parts in the drivetrain a fighting chance..learn to control oyur throttle and you'll be fine.. good example are guys running Fast FWD cars, they (in the past I had to as well) lower the hammer in a fluid motion and I still beat RWD same HP cars in the 60'..AWD is Quicker on the Street in a high HP application, but I'll take the track wins on DR's and lose in the street.

i agree that the awd will start to shatter stuff with enough power, but i think there's gonna have to be quite a bit of power there to do so. i think the tranny will be the weak point, not necissarily the transfer case and the front AWD guts. it comes with a simple solution though, as it breaks buy stronger stuff to replace it. there are sy/ty's in the 9s and they're running ok with AWD.

Just remove the shaft to the front axel.:p While you are at it you might change to a 6 speed tranny too. Just being silly!!

That's a matter of tires. If you had DOT-R tires on your C6, you'd do much better, without the extra weight and launching problems with AWD.
