Do your stock or aftermarket CAI kit intake a favor and help it breath a little easier. ;)

It doesn't get better than this for all the guys who pull the front headlight at the strip. :)

The quest for just a little more realy brings out the inventor in all of us . I hope you don't live in the snow belt .

So let me get this straight. Your mod is to cut up the fluid tank?

Yes, it is the washer fluid tank.
Yes, it is now a cut out washer flud tank that opens up a huge box of volume for the filter.
Yes, I live in the snow belt.
Why do it?
- Have you seen how much of the filter area is covered up by the stock setup?
- It cost me $0 in materials and maybe 10 minutes with a dremel
- A replacement tank for fall/winter driving is WAY WAY cheaper than materials and time to fab up a CAI "box". Not to mention this tank is VERY nicely molded to the wheel well for maximum area.
- It looks completely STOCK in the truck
- Its the little things that count at the end of the 1320
Is this a mod for everyone?
Obviously not... maybe only a handful of all TBSS members here.

John, do i see an opening from th rad support?? I see day light there. Wionder if a hose can go in there to direct fresh cold air towards the air filter.

I did the exact same thing John, except I also cut the front portion of the airbox that was covering the front end of the filter, as well as the housing that sits in between the headlight and parking light assembly, and directly behind the supposed factory ram air vent. Once the headlight and grill were back in, you couldn't tell at all that behind that grille is completely wide open. :D
I'll post some pics of mine the next time I have it apart. ;)

looks like you butchered it good, its easier to open up the grill opening and get air force fed to the filter, like i've posted before ,with tubing flowing the air directly to the filter.:D

That was mod intake ver 1, did that when the SS had like 50 miles on it or so. :) [Actually, I did the headlight mod when the TBSS was dropped of and before I even drove it for the first time.]
This is ver 2 (posted in this thread) which came shortly after 1. ;)
Now at 1700 miles, version 3 is almost done.
V3 is the FINAL version as it'll give me a complete stock replacement with IAT temps that should be equal to the outside air and it won't be sucking through a straw (the headlight mod). Did I mention I'll have windshield washers again. ;)

There is an alternative air-inlet source other than thru the grille. Underneath the headlight (forward in vehicle of the filter/washer tank, part of the wheel-well & front-clip structure) there is a rather large snaked "hole" that opens to the wheel-well. Quite frankly, I believe that *most* of the air on the stock intake-system is drawn in from here, rather than thru the front-grille. HTH.

Cool mod dude. I just put my K&N on today so I'm not sure whats next. I was considering opening that area up though.
