Hello everybody! Nice site you have going here. From all the reading I have been doing it appears that the TB has alot of issues. I am looking at a 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS 4WD, with 39,000 miles for $16,799. Does this seem about right for this truck?

Air Conditioning, ABS Brakes
Power Steering, Cloth Seats
Air Bag(s), AM/FM CD System
Power Windows, Power Locks
Power Mirrors, Alloy Wheels
Cruise Control, Rear Defroster
Rear Wiper, Roof Rack
4WD

I honestly dont want something that going to give me a load of problems. I see a lot of people here have alot of issues with this truck. I am torn on what to do. If I get one I would be selling my 1999 navy blue metallic SS Camaro with 47,700 miles on it. I am a performace car kind of guy but I need something more practical and something that will tow my race car and haul my friends at the same time.

On to another question. My race car weight's 3,500 pounds and my trailor weights around 1,800 pounds. Will the TB be able to handle this?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!! :)

BTW this is the car I would be getting rid of to get the TB

I thought about the warranty but from what I understand the aftermarket warrantys only cover powertrain. It doesnt seem that the TB has any powertrain issues. Just small stupid little nit pick issues. Carmax offers a 6 year 60,000 mile warranty that I can purchase. Didnt ask how much though. :duh:

Welcome.

The 02's has had the most serious issue, and that was the cylinder sleeve failure. It did not effect all 2002's but i would make sure your vehicle isn't one of them, or if it is, it had the recall done.

See this thread for more info: http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=303&highlight=02+engine+recall

You can also check out the recalls/TSB's in the resource section.

WOW thats for the heads up

That has pretty much turned me off of any 2002 TB. Darn it seemed like a good deal to

Just so you know, the recall replaces the entire engine with a brand new one. So if the recall was needed and done, then there are no worries. I heard some people buying high mileage 2002 Trailblazers that were out of warranty and got a brand new engine put in by GM. :)

The first year for any new model is always the most problematic IMO. Nothing better than real world eveyday testing that will make the defects come out of hiding.:m2:

oh wow I hope my '02 displays recall-worthy symptoms. Maybe they'll gimme an SS engine if I pay the difference... :undecided

Anyway, I bought my '02 in March, have put 10K miles on it and haven't had any problems...

Nice cars! I would go for an 03 TB. They will cost slightly more but you won't have first year problems that plague vehicles. Welcome to the site.

I forget the towing capacity off-hand but make sure you check the owner's manual to make sure you can tow what you need to with no problems.

Id rather look at a 2003 or a really late build 2002, somewhere around May, June 2002. :m2:
