I just bought an 02' Envoy about a week ago and the driverside brakelight isn't working. I checked the bulb and it is fine. I replaced it anyways and it still didn't work. They work fine when the headlights are on. Any suggestions?

Has it had the tail light recall done? If unsure, call your GM dealer with the Serial (VIN) and they can tell if it has been done, if you are uncertain. Can also tell you if any other recalls need to be done.

Thats odd...like Envoy Fan said you should check for the taillight recall thing. When I put the "euro tails" on my TB my issues with the tailight going out went away...

Same thing happened to my 02 TB. the dealer said that it's a problem with the factory circuit board that the bulbs plug into. They replaced it and it works fine.
The reason why your problem went away is because you no long use the circuit board and replaced it with the "euro tails"

Ok so i called the dealership. MY trucks tailight boards were fixed by the previous owner sometime on 05. Im having the same issue however now with my drivers brakelight. Guess im gonna price it, if it costs a good chunk ill call chevy and raise hell. I just replaced the brake light last week, it worked when i put it in. Now it does not. The bulb is still good. It flashes when i lock/unlock, just not when i brake......

anything i can do as far as recall if its already been replaced

Since you bought it used, probably not. The circuit board itself isn't that expensive to replace. GMPartsDirect has them for $18 ea. + shipping. Dealer list is $30

remove tailight- and remove the bulbs.
look at the contacts.
its possible they have build up/corrosion.
not rust...... but sometimes the metal turns black (heat?).
You may be able to scrape it off (use edge of screwdriver).
then check the contacts on the bulbs- they turn black too.....

been there- done that....
