does anyone know if changing the rear end of a 4.2l, 2wd 06 TB from the 3.42 to the 3.73 ratio or even higher help in off the line acceleration? I owned an 04 TB 4.2l, 2wd with the 3.73 and it was faster and got better mileage. Would it be worth it and how much for parts and labor could be estimated? thanks

As with all gears, going with a higher number gear will increase low end torque (better acceleration), but remove power from your top end (probably don't need to go 100+ in a trailvoy anyways).

from what i've seen, i raced my friends TB with 3.42 gears, in the beginning to around 60-70mph i jumped in front, then all of a sudden booooom, it was as if he sprayed his way all the way till the end!

 You are correct. But, I would not have posted that comment on the SS boards, just the 4.2-5.3
I drove an SS and it was spectacular. I wish my Envoy handled like that, then I'd be happy to do 100

3.73s get the weight moving quicker and the TB/EN has a lot of weight. You also have more noise and it uses more gas. It is around $500-800 per axle.
