I have a 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada with 40,000km's on it and the whenever I drive the front drivers side wheel makes a horrible squeaking noise and grinding noise. It gets louder as I accelerate. When I apply the brakes the sound does not stop or go away, but stays the same.
The sound only comes on whenever the car is movine greate than 20km/h. My dealership said that the noise is normal and is due to oxidation on the rotors and informed me to drive up to 40 and slam the brakes to remove. Did this many times and the noise gets worse lol.
Any suggestions? Does this sound like a brake issue?

Do your brakes feel less effective? Has the dealership checked the wheel bearings, etc? Do you have another dealership in the area you could visit?

I have an 02 tb Ls bought in 02 has over 70k miles. years ago i heard a (seemed to be) squeaky and grinding noise sound from the front.couldn't explain it though. Back to the dealers several times and of course never does it when trying to show a technician on a test drive. they were never able to fiqure out what it was. I finally found a TSB somewhere that indicates that the whole locking mechanism under the hood, the rubber bumpers and hood hinges show be lubed with some type of grease. I used white lithium and the sound was gone. Made sense.... the squeaky sound of the bumpers rubbing against the underhood and the metal grinding at the locking mechanism. Hope this helps, if not, won't hurt to lube it up anyways. ;)
