I'm about to take delivery of a SWB Trailblazer LS 4x2 with the 5.3l engine. I was looking around and cant seem to find any CAI or cat backs for it, which would be a shame because Chevy V8's sound sooooooooo good. Could I order CAI's or cat-backs designed for other models with the 5.3 (Silverado, Tahoe, etc) and tweak them a little to make it fit? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure K&N makes a CAI for the 5.3..Dacomputernerd has one on his truck...

Use the same one that the 6.0L use. But in some instances a tune will be needed, or your engine will run too lean at WOT.

Yeah, look at a Vector CAI and tune (dont know if ADM tunes the 5.3L V8, only the SS).
As for cat-backs, no other one will work, cant just bolt a Tahoe one up. Spong has a dual setup with a Flowmaster 70 series (the 50 series was really loud when DOD kicked in).

I to have a 06 SWB TB with the 5.3L. As far as finding any applications for the 5.3L as of now good luck. But as the previous post said most of the SS 6.0L stuff should work. CAI, headers. Now I haven’t been able to spend much time really looking yet but what I have found is that stainless works has just came out with a set of headers for the SS SWB. One other member on here said that the manifolds or gaskets I believe were the same part number for the 6.0L and the 5.3. After all as far as headers go the 5.3, 6.0, 5.7 and the 4.3 are basically the same when it comes to heads and block dimensions, all are gen. 3 or 4 motors. As far as adding a CAI intake and basic bolton's such as that, the PCM should be more than capable of handling the A/F changes. But a tune would never hurt; usually you will find that you are running a little on the rich side. I have added bolton's to my late model Camaro's in the past, witch are controlled much the same way as the truck motors and have had great results in gains. I will be ordering HP tuners software here soon mainly for my 02 Z28. I am curious , when the support is offered as to what can be done PCM wise with the 5.3L

Not necessarily true. Always check part numbers to see if they are interchangeable. Ports, valve sizes, combustion chambers, etc. are usually different on the heads, and deck heights can be different on small blocks as well, although I haven't checked the specs on these engines, it seems like I've read that the decks are different. This places headers in different places and angles. So don't take these things for granted. :D
