Just got an e-mail from Brandon at STS. They are taking deposits on the first run of bolt-on STS kits for our trucks, available in about 1 month. Dyno sheets should be coming soon. It is a single turbo setup with optional intercooler. Looks like the forced induction marketplace is heating up for us!:undecided

i got the same e-mail. i can't wait to see their dyno sheet compared to maggie when they are both available. might be a close race/hard decision. :undecided

Turbo with 10.9:1 compession ratio!!! I don't think this is a good idea.

About 6 months ago my brother was at the Dodge dealership and saw a SRT10 truck with bent rods and broken pistons. Owner of truck had installed a STS turbo kit. When engine damaged occured owner removed turbo, but dealer discovered turbo had been installed and voided warranty.

This mistake cost the owner $15,000 in engine repairs.

There putting a SC on it. same thing. Its all about tunning you should be able to run 5 or 6 pounds on a turbo with "good" tuning. that should net ... 130 - 200whp.

1) If you you want to worry less about blowing up your motor, don't mod it and you still may blow it up depending how you drive an maintain it. Attention to detail in setup, tuning, etc...

2) This is an LSx based motor, people are and have done some crazy stuff with them. I don't think the TB SS people are going to be pioneers on much of anything when it comes to modding these motors. ;)

3) Have fun and see 1 & 2...

Which makes me laugh....the owner probably paid cash for the truck too. That's seems to be the only market for those trucks...the people who can pay cash. He had enough cash to buy a $50k truck, a $6k turbo, and was trying to get over on $15k in engine repairs....he would do better to build the motor himself for the turbo for that price.

Good news on the turbo. It will be neat to compare the turbos and SC's when the Maggie comes out. It will also inevitably not be long until someone pops one of these LS2's. I remember when the SC's started coming out for the 05+ Mustangs, it took about 3 weeks for the first one to drop and those engines are much more boost friendly. When it happens though, you have to build it back, bigger, stronger, and faster :D

You guys should look at the IAT's that you get from a Maggie 170+ our turbo set up hasen't gone over 130 degrees in a 100 degree day after a 3 gear run . I have a felling that due to our routing shorter and opposite of STS we will make more power . Dyno is set for friday . I'll keep you guys posted . BTW we have been able to relocate our turbo to keep it higher then the frame.

Thats an impressive IAT. so many factors go into how much power a turbo makes(turbo choice, intercooler size) that little piping doesnt really mean much.

When will you guys have a production kit for sale for those of us not near you?

I am getting started on fabricating a kit right now too. I have a feeling there are going to be several offering before the year is out. A little competition could make for some affordable kits. Nothing wrong with that.

thats what im talking about if you look at some sc/tc kits for the stangs and camaro's they start at under 3g's im sure right off the bat they will still be 5g 6g but they should come down in price, well we all hope!!!!!!!!!!1

It's not impossible but to sell kits at 3-4g's you the customer would be getting the short end of the stick. We are fully intending on our full kit at 5.5psi 6500 installed . There are options of corse . Our kits will be installed at our shop a while . Once we have 3-4 done we will start shipping kits but that might be a while.

I hope I didn't start something when I said competition would make for affordable kits. The reason why mustang kits get down under 3k is because they produces hundreds of thousands of mustang every year. I know what it is going to cost to put a kit together buying stuff at cost. Let me tell you , for a turbo kit done right with everything you need I can't see a kit coming out under 5k for our trucks. That is just my two cents. I am not personally going to offer a turbo kit, I am just going to fab one for my truck. I have access to everything I need to do the fab work. The average Joe is going to pay $80 to $100 an hour for someone to sit there and bend tube, weld, and bolt things together. My estimate would be over 40 hours by the time the project was done and everything was working perfectly. Unless you bought a bunch of universal pieces and everything just worked out of the box. That is very doubtful

Since I have built a rear mount setup myself on an lt1 fbody I will say to do it RIGHT you will have lots of time and money into a kit no matter what. I had about $3500 in my whole setup which included a MP T70, obx FMIC, all SS charge pipe, 4" intake pipe/k&n, all tbolt clamps, all 4 ply silicone cuplers/reducers/elbows from HTS, 60lb injectors, tial 50mm bov, tial 44mm wastegate, mocal oil pump, all steel braided oil lines with an fittings, custom made crank case vacuum pump. I built it right the first time so I wouldn't ever have to do it again and when I started to piece it together I was looking for 650rwhp on pump gas/low boost. That being said, I could've gone cheap/used parts and got it done for under $2200.

I like the way you think, do it right the first time so you dont have to redo it later on. Its more expensive that way anyway to have to redo it later.
