Car would not drive

I have an 03 tb with 50 thousand miles. Today i was driving and when i stoped i put it in the reverse and it would not move i put it back to drive and it would not work. I turned it off and back on and now it works fine. What do you think it could have been?

Almost sounds like a blown reaction shell in the trans. Hard to say. Shutting down and restarting my allow it to 're-couple'. Hopefully it's something else (simple and cheap), but if that's the case, a trans rebuild will be needed.
