re:where can i find simple, affordable 5/16" spacers to get my tread off the ball joints?

so i ran my stock tires to the steel belts and needed to replace them. my brother had a set of 265/16 wilderness at's off his z71 with less than 15k miles that i could use. so i load em up and take em to the tire shop to get them swapped. after the swap em, i says to the guy... the tires rubbing the fenders or tire wells?

dude says, they dont appear to be and i didnt hear them rubbing when i pulled it out of the bay.

so i go take a peek and turn the wheel such that i can tell if it is gonna rub the fenders or the wells. plenty of turning clearance. so i head home and notice more road noise than usual. when i get home and make closer inspection of the situation, i notice that the noise could be attributed to the fact that the tread was rubbing up against the ball joint.

anyhow, i have been searching for remedies to this problem and came across this site. i saw several posts about spacers and such, and the most alarming fact i have come to realize is that i cant find any 5/16" spacers that will fit the TB lug spacings. where can i find simple, affordable 5/16" spacers to get my tread off the ball joints?

Try H&R.

Fred Goeske at www.wheeladapter.com can make anything you need. Under no circumstances can I recommend www.ezaccessory.com because of their incompetence making my original wheel spacers and horrible customer support.

This is the website: www.hrsprings.com.

The parts store here had a 2006 product catalog that was in German, and they had the spacers for the TB. I'll try and get the part number. You will need to file the original bolts to fit the spacers on though. But overall, excellent accessory makes the stance much more aggressive.

The exact same thing happened to me ... The local Firestone shop put 265/70's on my stock wheels. We were concerned about tire clearance on the fenders, and didn't bother to check the control arm. I heard/felt a slight vibration when pulling out of the lot. Ran in and told the manager, he came out and looked, we decided it was just the mean tread on my Firestone AT's. Got home and noticed it was rubbing on the arm. I ordered the 2" spacers from Fred Goeske (heckuva nice guy, the the way) and received them in four days. All four set me back $365, which is expensive but less what it would cost for new wheels. You can get the non-centric types for about $280 I believe. Put them on in about an hour and they make the truck look amazingly touch. Much better IMO.

I ordered the 2" spacers...Wow. First time I ever heard of anybody getting 2" spacers. 1.5" is the typical I use and have been recommending. Did you or Fred suggest the upsize to 2"?
