A little while ago (like 20 minutes) I started getting a clicking noise from my rear fuse panel - and I was hoping someone could help me before I take my car to the dealership tomorrow morning - here's what happens:

When I take my car out of Park - The area of the Fuse Box under the Driver Rear Seat makes 2 clicks
When the truck goes from Reverse to Neutral - The same area makes 1 click

And vice versa, when moving from neutral to reverse and reverse to park;

No noise is made from Neutral to Drive or D4-D1

Onstar ran a diagnostic without any issues

Someone please help!!
My car hasn't made this noise at all for my first 2000 miles

Thanks!

Ok, so I figured out WHY it clicks:

It clicks when: 1. The parking lights turn on
2. The reverse lights go on
3. The interior domes go on

That's why i heard what I did before and associated it with shifting gears.

I removed the relay for the parking lights - and obviously no click - but no parking lights

Any help on fixing this myself? Or is it off to the dealer in the morning?

This may be a totailly differant 'clicking' than you are describing, but mine clicks in the same sequense you described in your first post, and it is to my understanding (for my truck) that it is the relay to lock/unlock the doors. i have my auto door lock disabled, but i still hear a 'click' when i engage a gear from park

It does it with unlock and lock too...

It started today, it is a new thing...

And yeah, I figured out that it's the relays, Unlock doors, Lock doors, and parking lights...

May not be my reverse lights, may just be that my factory setting is to lock the doors when put into gear so it may just have been coincidental.

Regardless, I think I'm going to replace all the relays, as they didn't do that before

My new envoy doesn't do this. I would get it checked out at the dealership.

let me know what happens when you replace it, mine have always clicked from what i remember, so if it stops i need to get mine fixed too

Yeah mine definitely didn't click at all, ever...

The unlock/locking sound drowns out the clicking of the fuse panel so is tolerable - but check out whether you turn on just your parking lights whether it makes the clicking too

I'll let you know tomorrow - if the dealer does nothing, I'm going to get a new relay anyway

sure it is fuse panel? read this:

Some owners of a 2002-05 Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT 2WD, or GMC Envoy XL 2WD, or 2003-05 Chevrolet SSR may comment on a ping, pop or click noise from underneath the rear of the vehicle. This concern usually occurs when shifting into Reverse, or out of Reverse into Drive.

On TrailBlazers and Envoys equipped with a 3.42 axle ratio (RPO GU6), or a 3.73 axle ratio (RPO GT4), this condition can be corrected by replacing the original swaged aluminum propshaft with a straight tube propshaft from the GMC Envoy XUV.
- p/n 15113111 for vehicles equipped with the 4.2L L6 (RPO LL8)
- p/n 15113110 for vehicles equipped with the 5.3L V8 (RPO LM4).

The propshafts mentioned above CANNOT be used in TrailBlazers and Envoys with the 4.10 axle ratio (RPO GT5). If this concern appears on a vehicle with the 4.10 ratio, use p/n 15163667, which is the same as the original propshaft

No... I know what sound they're talking about...

Like I said before, this is a new noise, clearly coming from the fuse box panel inside the truck - Helen Keller could even tell you where it was coming from. It seems to be the relays, and I'm having it checked at 8am - thanks for the info though

The jerk at the place I went to this morning said "oh that's normal"

And I was like "oh, i've been driving trailblazers for 4 years, I think I can tell you what a normal sound is, versus a new, abnormal sound."

So I'm just going to start by replacing the relays, once I can find them online... I think they're special order at gmpartsdirect, are there any other places like that I can get these?

I have a 2004 GMC Envoy XL with 130k miles and I'm getting a 9 clicks in a row for 10-15 times in the rear passenger quarter panel. I think it has do with either the auto door locks or the rear hatch. I think it is a relay and it only happen when you first start up the vehicle and put it in gear. I think it clicks until it times out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have rear ac/heat then it is probably one of two actuators that are behind that panel. One controls the rear temp and the other contols air flow. Common issue with these and they are not to bad to get to other then removing the rear panel.

You might also try starting a new thread instead of using this old one. That way it gets proper attention.
