What's the best way to remove that annoying dealer sticker that they put on the vehicles before they sell them?

For 2005, Chevy actually did a good job of keeping the vehicle "clean" of lettering (except for the Trailblazer name on the back).

I don't mind the factory trailblazer lettering, but I do not want the White dealer sticker on the dark paint.

Any hints? Hairdryer?

Didn't have a sticker on the TB, got a license plate frame instead, first thing to come off when I got home. I did however have one on my last vehicle, once I got it home just peeled it off with very little residue left over, but it was in the middle of August though. I hate those damn stickers anyway, if I want to promote a dealership that has treated me well I will do it by word of mouth, not by having some stupid sticker on my vehicle. Good luck taking yours off.

You can use a hairdryer, just don't get the area too hot or you might blister the paint. Easier to do in warm weather. Can also soak the area with goo gone, goof off, or 3M adhesive remover. Will make sticker come off easier. Just be careful if you use your finger nails not to scuff the paint.

If you want to get a little carried away, you could even remove the TrailBlazer and any other badges using the same stuff. Will be a little more time consuming than the sticker, but will have a liftgate easier to wash and wax.

I'd say go with the hair dryer trick. I personally use dental floss (make sure it's unwaxed or the heat will make it quite messy) to get the sticker/badge and residue off; seems to leave less behind for me to mess with. After it's off, any residual mess can be taken off with a small ammount of goo gone or whatever you have handy along those lines.

yeah sure IF you're real careful. There are much safer solutions out there; if used improperly I've seen vinegar etch paint.

I actually just took care of that yesterday. It was a nice sunny day here and I had the tailgate pointed in the sun for the afternoon. I just simply used my fingers. It came off like it had just been put on an hour earlier. No residue or anything.

Glad it was an easy operation for you. The longer the stickers are on, the harder they are to remove.

Make the dealer that sold the car to you do it. You already paid their salary.

haha that's what I did with mine -- wouldn't accept delivery until the sticker was off there. I told them "I don't drive a billboard; get that off of there"

The dealer I bought mine from figured out a nasty trick to get you to keep the sticker on. They let any vehicle with the dealership sticker use their car wash for free anytime. Was pretty convenient when I worked a block away from the dealership, but since we've moved, the sticker's gotta go...

hahaha!! Turn and friggin' run, man!! Do you have ANY idea what kind of paint damage that dealership wash was probably doing to your paint?? That's like the 11th commandment moses forgot to write down: "Thou shalt not wash thy truck at thy dealership, else swirlmarks shall forevermore plague thee!" :D

haha...oh yeah...you should see this car wash - probably one of the first automatics built. The red "rags" that clean the car are black with grime. Every now and then I'd be overcome with laziness and the desire to have a 75% clean car and indulge....knowing full well the consequences.....haha

Here is something from a Cadillac FAQ site.

How do I remove a badge or dealer name plate on my car?

Take the hair blower to the car (don't forget the extention) and turn hair blower "ON" and point at decal. Move hair blower back & forth across the width of the decal. Hold hiar blower like 6" away from decal. Do this for 2 minutes. Shut off hair blower. Using a finger nail gently lift one corner of the decal enough to pinch the decal you lifted between 2 fingers. Pull the decal off at a 90-degree angle _/ sorta like that. Once you start pulling, DO NOT STOP, but continue pulling SLOWLY and STEADILY, not jerking. Don't stop to "take a look" either ~ When it's completely off, you'll need either adhesive remover or a rag on which you've dribbled a few drops of gasoline. Either will instantly and safely remove any "sticky" that stayed behind. Throw away the rag.

If it's a METAL nameplate, take it back to the dealer to remove. 90% use decals thesedays.
OR

DO NOT use a plastic spatula or putty knife! I know some guys here used that method, but you are asking for trouble. Use a nice long piece of waxed dental floss, with no heat. Start on one corner and work towards the center, then start on the opposite side and work towards center. They are not "glued on". They are held on with a very thin piece of double sided tape. Using the floss method, you will actually be lifting the badge off the tape, instead of lifting the tape/badge off the paint. Once the badge is gone there will still be black foam tape left on the paint, you can now peel this off with your fingers. After the majority is gone, use a "goo-be-gone" of some sort to get rid of the sticky residue, follow that up with wax.........voila, badge is gone and nothing came in contact with your paint.

I can't guarantee anything though. I told my dealer that I'm paying $50k for a car (CTS V), I better not have a sticker or another badge on it. One of these days I might remove the Trailblazer's.
