I finally took my TBSS in today. I took it into the shop that I used to work at. I got there and found out there was only one tech left that I worked with and I requested him because he was the most skilled one there and I trusted him.

I dropped the vehicle off with this list...

1. Lube and oil change
2. Fix adehesive leak on rear panel
3. Left turn rub
4. Front bumper/fog light service bulletin
5. Seat module recall
6. High pitched noise from under hood
7. Rear license panel cracked
8. Rear bumper step pad warping

So, I drop it off at 9:30am and leave. By 4:15pm, I still haven't received a call, which they were supposed to do. I called them instead and asked them how it made out. Service manager told me that they didn't find anything wrong with the vehicle and asked if I was coming to pick it up. I asked him if he had even noticed the adhesive dripping and he said, "well, that was cleaned off", then just stayed quiet. I then asked him about the service bulletin on the front bumper brackets and he said "I didn't find a bulletin on it". He went quiet again, like he had nothing to say. I finally said, "Ok, I am not happy with this at all. I know there is a service bulletin on the bumper/fog lights" He checked again and this time said "Oh, here it is under "fog lights". Weird, because someone else on here said that the bulletin was found under bumper bulletins, so I think this guy was lying to me.

The tech I requested didn't work on the vehicle either, so this added to why i was mad and felt that things would have been different had he done the work.

Well, it gets better. I showed him the things on the vehicle and was getting more and more furious with his cocky attitude and was trying to put me off. I asked him why no one even bothered to call me to ask questions or anything and he said "because we just got finished". I tld him that was unacceptable, the car was there for plenty of time to have the work done and ask me questions".

I then asked if they even did the oil change. He said yeah, and then I asked if they used full synthetic and he replied "You didn't ask for it". Oh ****, I was HEATED!! I explained to them what the TBSS had in it and they just looked at me. They had no clue. I stood there waiting for someone to tell me they were going to fix these problems, but no one spoke up. I then said "I expect this to be up to GM spec and refuse to pay for this and want something done" Finally they agreed to change the oil again to full synthetic. I should have watched the tech change it.

By the end of it, I finally got them to order the bumper brackets and the rear panel, but I had to fight to get it done. I complained to customer relations and they apoligized profusely and said they would take care of it. The woman was very nice, even offered me free fuel, next oil change and if I couldn't make it out to drop it off, would personally come out to pick up my vehicle. She said "I drive a Malibu SS and am anal about my car, so you can bet I will drive your vehicle nicely, watch your vehicle while it's here next time and be sure you are treated good". She made me feel better, but I was still furious.

I have not had much luck with dealerships. I took my motorcycle out for a service bulletin for a primary nut problem and they kept telling me the noise I was hearing was from synthetic oil and nothing was wrong. I ended up hiring someone to come to my house to fix the bike and the nut spun right off with his hands when it was supposed to be tighted to 200ft-lbs of torque.

The sad thing is, most dealerships are like this...anything that costs them $$$, they are hesitant to do..they try and get stuff done as fast as they can, ex: my paint...

sorry to hear that, I just had my fog light brackets installed and the plate gasket done (I bet it'll still ooze in the sun though), weather strip replaced, and the interior sill plate, plastic with "CHEVROLET" in fake stainless, replaced and they event he left the plastic on, like the driver's door one they replaced whe I first bought it (Shame on Chevy with that easily scratchable piece on there) the guy that did the work owns a 13 second Duramax and a 10 second Chevelle, so he paid a little extra attention to it, asked me about the fans, I told him what was done, so he will be my new "GM Tech" guy form now on, he's also the one that replaced my Water pump 2X!!! faulty neck, from the factory and the 2 replacements after that, now it's good though..

Hard to find a good dealer, and a good tech... that's for sure..

I've had nothing but bad experiences with dealerships service centers, too. I prefer to do my own work, and I do. Even when it's under warranty. I will only take it to a dealer if it were a big money repair under warranty. And then I would VERY closely inspect their work.

My worst experience: Had a 95 Chevy Corsica, 3.1L V6. Head gasket blew at 75 K miles (extended warranty). Dealer took a month to install a used engine with supposedly only 15K miles. I did the next tune-up and removed one champion and five autolite spark plugs, none of which were the proper heat range. I was seriously ticked. Dealer service centers suck.

Sorry to hear that, hope they give you that gas and whatnot.

I have no patience with the dealer near me, they do crappy work and dont ever tell you anything. I wont go to them except for parts (they are 5min and the next closest dealer is about 25-30min).

The thing that torques me off the most is the dealer gets paid by GM for the service time - so WTF do they care! Do it and do it right they get paid!

But this is why I do all of my own work and unless it is MAJOR I do not bother with the dealers. It sucks because I know that is exactly what they want.

What are the bumper brackets? Are they for behind the fog lights? I noticed that when I drive at night fog lights jumps all over the place? Will these brackets reenfoce it?

If you look at the front bumper and shake the bottom part, you will notice there is little support. The bumper only seems to be support on the upper part. The brackets attach the bottom part of the bumper better and this will help prevent the fog lights from jumping around.

AMEN!!

Took the girlfriends Liberty in for the ball joint recall. Came back, extremely out of alignment, all the personal plate frames we put on were gone, replaced with jeep dealer frames, nice big sticker on the back, then when we took it back and pulled the tire, they twisted the brake line the wrong way (did the excact same thing on my neighbors liberty)

I haven't had the pleasure of visiting a gm dealer yet.

I'm starting to dislike my dealer now also since they want you to drop it off at 8am or so for repairs, then they may get around to your vehicle before 2pm. I asked why don't you just have me bring the vehicle in at 3pm if you are just going to work on it then anyways. Of course by 3pm, they can't get the parts they need so it ends up coming back a day or two later for something that takes 1/2 hour to fix.

I see where that rear bumper pad warping seems to be a common problem with the TBSS. I have also had issues with my dealership giving misinformed information and being very hesitant to replace parts unless you specify it. Guess one consolation is they supply free rentals!
