This just started this morning. I have not tried to drive the vehicle. The light above the "2wd" is continuously flashing instead of staying solid orange. It does the same thing if you change the other settings. (A4WD, 4HI, 4LO)

Searching seems to indicate a bad switch. Can I drive the car like this?

Thanks.

edit: I left the car off for a few minutes and turned it back on. Now it is acting normally. I can also hear the car shifting modes when I turn the knob th A4WD. Could this have just been a fluke?

I get this once in a while. I attribute this to some kind of "dropped communication" between the transfer case control unit (which is under the dash) and the transfer case.

If it happens again, try putting the transmission in neutral to see if the light turns solid.

As for driving with the light flashing, I drove for a couple of months with the light completely off. The control unit I talked about completely failed which basically made my TB a 2 wheel drive. I drove like this until I found a better priced source for a new unit and installed it. A dealership still had to flash program the unit though ...

Well I just drove 1.5 hours with no issues. One thing I do wonder about is my cigarette lighter. Before I cranked the car and experienced the flashing light, I plugged a cell phone charger into the cigarette lighter. The charger wasn't working and I found that it was defective. The charger got very hot to the touch from what was basically a short circuit. (Thing is brand new too) After I unplugged it, I started the car and noticed the light. After the car sat turned off for a minute, the problem disappeared.

I just wonder somehow if the stupid phone charger is somehow responsible. That was the first and only time I have had this problem. :undecided
