Can anyone tell me the rpms @ 65mph for the 4:10 and 3:42 gears (in overdrive)
I calculate: 2038rpm for the 4:10s @ 65mph, 2352@75mph
and I get : 1743rpm for the 342s at 65 and 2011 at 75
Does this seem correct??

Options depend. On the SS the options I would get would be the leather interior and the side airbags oh and maybe get that cargo cover. Upgrading the radio or getting a sunroof would be the main ones I wouldn't get.

Any reason why? Quality or just preference?

I got everythings except NAV and sunroof.
Nav sucks cause it's the old school style where the NAV CD has to be in the player when in use which means you can't use NAV and listen to music CD at ssame time
Sunroof cut down on headroom too much and my head was touching the headliner, so just beware if you are taller.
I think the 4.10's are the only gear available with the SS option so if gas is a worry for you, I would look elsewhere. Good luck and hope it works out for you.:)

I would definately upgrade to the Bose, unless you're ripping everything out... I added an 10"SAS tube with an RF amp and the system is terrific, then again, i am 33yo and don't "blast" the hell out of it constantly, but do crank it probably 1 or 2 times on the way to and from work (gotta love Sat & 6Discs to choose from, just need to change to Sirius, why I take my Envoy to work more than the SS).
I have everything but the Nav, that's what I would suggest, (if no kids skip the rr dvd as well) I have Kids, but I also have a 12" Audiovox DVD LCD TV that hangs between the seats, so I didn't bother looking for it.. As for the Nav? I don't take this truck on any extended trips, that's what the Envoy is for, and I have a Garmin GPS program in my laptop I use ($129 works better than any Nav unit I've ever tried & screen is 15" so it's very detailed, voice assist 8Million POI, etc.) by the way, avoid the rain sensing wipers as well, the one I bought didn't have it, and I am very glad.. Number one I use RainX so I never need the wipers as it is and second, it would drive me insane if they wiped dry (which I hear they do once in a while) as I hate marks on the windshield to begin with..
Next thing is color... you know what kind of driving you do.. will a darker color work for you? higher upkeep than a Silver or White... do you park in alot of lots where it's tight? are the wife and kids going to be in it, opening doors into other cars, walss, shrubs, etc.? If I had my Garage done I would've Gotten the Black one as it's the nicest color on any car by far. But I had that already and spent more time cleaning than driving.. White was too plain in my opinion, so the silver was a no brainer, plus I liked this particular silver Met. it gets alot of compliments, even at the dealer.. My Envoy XUV is Magnetic Red Met. (extra cost option, rare color, I've only seen one on an Envoy, not even an XUV) so the red was out as well, plus that along with the blue was in the "Dark color Class"..
Good Luck...Tony

FYI, the SS only comes with the 4.10s. You CANNOT order 3.42s, even though its listed on the GM and Chevy websites. The 4.10s that come in the SS are different than the regular 4.10s (different size), and the 3.42s are a fluke on the web. If you actually order it with the 3.42s, expect at least a phone call to tell you it cant be done and you will end up with a truck with the 4.10s regardless.
The only way to get a different gear is to buy it aftermarket (gets really expensive if you have AWD).

Welcome the forum excessive!!! Get the leather and the sun and sound IMO, they are really nice to have unless your into completly custom stereos or taller than 6'4". Black is a mofo to keep clean but it does look sharp on the SS. I have the NAV and it works well for me. I have not bought a CD since I got the XM so I'm not worried about playing CD's while using the NAV either since I don't use the NAV around town and theres always something on XM :) I don't have the rear DVD but I would have gotten it if I had custom ordered mine (kid). Don't forget the pics of the new SS :woot:

I talked with G.M. today, I went though three " Customer Assistants" before talking with a supervisor. For '07 I'm told the nav. system has been changed and uses a separate cd slot. So I'm told you can listen to cds and use the nav at the same time. Hope they are not just blowing smoke. Ordering it tonight, Thanks for all the replies
