Hello guys, new to the SUV arena. I'm not new to LS2's.
I'm debating between the TBSS and the SRT.
I think the SRT has lots more bells and whistles and stock it's tons faster!
How can I make the TBSS just as fast but not void the warranty? Is it possible?
Thanks!

The SRT-8's are running 13.3x and cost $10K more
A 2WD has run 13.7x stock.
With a tune has run 13.4x. (~$400) This will not void your warranty.
Add a cold air package and a catback ($800-$1000) and you'll be in the 13.3x range. These cannot void your warranty.
Add underdrive crank pulley ($300) and you'll be approaching 13.30. Again not going to affect your warranty.
Add a Torque Converter ($700) and you'll be in the 12's. Warranty might be affected. According to law it has to be proven the changed part instigated the failure. So with a TC if the tranny gives out they can say the TC put more shock into it. But if the engine blows a head gasket, they cannot deny warranty.

I'm going to be looking at a AWD so I understand they are a little slower.
I know all about the MM act  I just know how dealers are.
I guess I can add .2 seconds for an AWD?

Hey Welcome. Since you have an LS2 without a warranty, you know that the possibilities are as big as your checking account. I actually was looking into the SRT8 Jeep myself, but ultimately decided on a Impala SS only to realize that the TBSS is a bargain. If you can still find any 06 TBSS's in stock, you have till 10/02/06 to take advantage of the $4000 rebate. This means you could purchase a fully loaded(without nav) TBSS for the price of a Impala SS. That made my decision to purchase my TBSS pretty easy. Even if you buy an 07, you'll still come away with more money in your pocket, and a platform that is "highly" modable. Put it this way, you can take the $5-10k you save by buying a TBSS and either
1. Spend in on mods
2. Put it into a deep beer fund account.
3. Take the family on a long road trip vacation with the TBSS
4. more mods

Did they drop the rebate? I just got $5k in rebates off mine this month. It was $3,500 and they added another $1,500.
There have to be 06's around. My dealer had at least 4 loaded AWDs the last time I was by there.

I have an 06 TBSS. I also have a 06 300C SRT8.
I had a deposit on the Jeep SRT8 before I bought the TBSS.
The SRT8s are faster stock. About 1/2-3/4 sec. in the 1/4.
The TBSS cost me $8k less than the Jeep! The price savings for a vehicle than equals the Jeep in every category other than being a bit slower for me was a no-brainer.
I have spend a total of $800 for a tune and CAI. The TBSS is now neck and neck when I race it against my SRT.
Good luck to you.

for just over 29k. without nav. the choice between the SRT-8 and the SS was super clear.
btw, does anyone know what stall torque converter the SRT-8 has? im guessing its a bit higher since it cant tow for crap.

I saw a guy wrote he was leaving in the 2700rpm rang out of the hole, probably a 26-2800 stall, their converter is top notch (For a factory one)..
their 60's are alway better than ours, and against an AWD 60' stock for stock almost .2 better, that at least .35 in the 1/4..I mph the same as a stock GC last february/march..

Technically, it is a "family" vehicle :)
Rrmcabe, I don't know if the $5000 thing was regional in certain area's, but GM's site only showed a total of $4000 when I bought it last week for area code 45213.
I would love to have the 5 speed transmission the GCSRT8's have. However, we have to work with what GM gave us, and there is a lot you can do to "improve" your SUV for the $5-8k you'll save with the TBSS.

I know, I'm just playing. I bought mine to lug around spouse, 2 kids and 2 dogs.....I should've gotten the EXT. But there is no eating or drinking in it  .

Is that by 'picture invitations' only? In other words TV members are allowed in via your interior pics? I figure if I let the kids in, I have to let the dogs in....hubby too, I guess :rotfl: .

You are better than me, as i've already ate a few burgers, and some fries in my TBSS since taking delivery last week. However, I don't let anyone else eat or drink anything in my vehicle. Bottled water is the only exception I have for this rule, and it must have a cap on it.
