Just a general question, what computer monitor screen resolution does everyone use?
800 x 600, 1024 x 786, 1280 x 1024, higher or other??

1024 X 768 as well on a 17" CRT. Soon will be upgrading to a 19" LCD, any recommendations for graphics/autocad purposes?

I have a Sony 21" CRT that I run at 1280 x 1024. Samsung makes a good LCD. Check out tomshardware.com. Great site for reviews.

I'm just not sold on LCDs yet, especially if you're doing graphics/CAD work. The dot pitch just isn't fine enough yet on LCDs. I'd recommend a nice 19" or 21" CRT that has a minimum .25 mm diagonal dot pitch. I'm not sure Sony makes CRTs anymore, but their Trinitrons were great! I'd recommend a Samsung or ViewSonic these days.
And if you're really looking to get intense with the graphics/CAD work, I'd look at some of the NVIDIA Quadro FX video cards.
