My brakes have become squishy- they arent leaky but at shy of 90,000 I think the fluid is all but dead.
Now- it being ABS- anything I need to know - not to do?
Ive bled brakes on my 64 and 70...
But the ABS ones- never.
so- size of wrench for the bleeder? metric im sure
what brake fluid for ABS? anything special?

The way I used to do it, pump 3 times, hold down all the way, person down below would open the valve, let the fluid comes out with force, close, repeat,

If I remember correctly, pass rear 1st, driver rear, pass front, then driver? is the order....

Theres no air- so it would simply be getting rid of old fluid.
Any of you use a turkey baster to remove old fluid from reservoir, refill then start to pump? and make sure it stays filled?

Your plan looks good to me. There isn't anything special about ABS, just more lines and more fluid. I use the highest temp fluid I can find. Sorry, I don't know the bleeder size.

been a while since Ive bought fluid. Wonder if they say something like for GM only... or GM approved.

Just checked a bottle I have at home, 450 degrees F and DOT 3. That DOT thing might be a Canadian spec.

I'd check the owners manual for what type of fluid but I think it's DOT 3

Ive always wondered if that DOT meant Dept of Transportation? (when I was a kid).... prob not...

The cap on the master cylinder reservoir says "DOT 3" on mine. DOT is Department of Transportation. Brake fluids are standardized by that DOT number for compatibility.

A friend of mine bought one of these and reports that it works quite well. It's a one person power bleeder for about $65 or so.

Good deal, less than one hour labour at the dealer. Plus no mess.
