Hey guys, this is a cut and paste of something that I basically posted over at the other site, and am asking you guys here because I want to know what you guys think.
Hey guys, I just got my TBSS back from service today after taking it in yesterday for a leaking front differential, and a leaking front shock. I can understand what they did to the shock, as they simply replaced it, but can you help me interpret the rest of the service work order?
Under the parts section, this is listed
F2122 Carrier Assembly front differential R&R
90 WC
3 89021677 Gear lube
2 1052942 Sealant
2 X1190 Part's Cleaner
6 1OIL OIL
1 12346141 Adheshive
PC: 2K
Part# 105
Count 14
Claim Type
Auth Code:
VN
Under the description, this is what is printed
987 FRT DIFF CARRIER DIAG LEAK R-R FRT DIFF R-R OIL PAN CAUSE PART OF FRT DIFF, SEPARATED RESEALED CASE CAUSE LEAKI NG AT L/FRT OIL PAN/DIFF, CLEANED ALL PARTS RESE ALED WITH AROBIC SEALER AND SEALED OIL PAN AND REFILLED OIL AND TEST DROVE 4 MILES RAISED VECH RECHECKED FOR LEAKS CHK OK NOW
This is copied word for word from the work order, and maybe someone to interpret for me what broke, what went wrong, and what they exactly did. This is my rough interpretation and maybe someone can clarify if i'm incorrect.
It sounds like the front differential was leaking, and somehow the oil pan was part of the front differential. So to fix it, they had to take apart the oil pan as well as the differential, which means that they also replaced the factory fill oil. Is there anyway to tell from what it says above whether they made sure to refill with Mobil 1 oil or not? I guess i'm just paranoid as i've ran into experiences with other dealers not using the correct oil in the past in some of my vehicles. In the parts section, it says 6 which I assume is the number of quarts of oil, and then 1oil oil. Would that signify that they did indeed make sure to use the correct oil? If so, too bad they didn't change the filter while they were at it.
