Hey Everyone! This is my first technical post, so bear with me. On my road trip, I noticed a clunking or rattling sound coming from the front right tire (passenger side) when I go over sharp bumps, and railroad tracks...I looked at the shock mounts, spring, tie rod ends and everything else that is bolted together down there and everything looks perfect....the only thing that was loose was the inner plastic mud guard or fender.... it is slightly loose, do you think this could cause the rattling? has anyone had similar problems?? The steering doesn't shake, or anything like that, and the vehicle feels as stable as ever. Do you think that could be my problem? something as simple as a loose fastener? Anyway, since Im about 8000 miles from my TB right now I can't really look at it, but it will be something that I can look into when I get home. Thanks alot!!!

My guess would be the stabilizer bar end links are worn and getting enough play in them to cause noise. Do a search for stabilizer or sway bar links and you wil find lots of info. Mine on my '02 were rattling and worn out at less than 15,000 miles.

I ordered the endlinks from rockauto and paid a total of 99 bucks for all 4 and shipping...thanks for the help!! Does anyone have an idea on what a dealership will charge to install these?? I am on deployment to the Persian Gulf right and my wife will have to get it done. Thanks for the help!

The dealer wanted to charge me $321! And that was just for the front. I do not know what they would charge if you provide the links, but as you know, the parts themselves are not expensive, so it will most likely still be costly. If they give you the same bogus quote then I highly recommend using an independent shop to replace them. If your wife can stand to wait, you may want to just do them yourself at a later time, or just take care of the front (that will most likely elimninate the noise). Other than the annoying noise, there is not harm in riding on them worn for a while.
