With the V8 SS arriving shortly a high-performance TB is kinda old news but it's still interesting to see what the 4.2 is capable of. I remember reading about this a few years back in print, but just stumbled on the online article. It's comforting to know that not a whole lot in the engine was changed to enable it to handle 400hp: "...the block, crank, head, head gasket, cams, and valve sizes remain virtually untouched." If it can handle 400hp just think of how long it will last with 270-290!

And what a beautiful sight!

i still dont get why everyone is still talking bout SS. I know it will be fast and whatso ever. but it still looks the same. I think they should have changed the shape of the suv, most parts look the same. Correct me if am wroge but will the SS be 4 speeeD?

You know whats great about the TT TB? It only gets 1mpg lower than my 02. If I had the $$$, I would get a Volant Intake, Borla exhaust, Whipple Supercharger if possible, or make my own, and top it with a Westers tune to account for the supercharger.

Hey, I can dream. :rotfl:  :D

Why doesnt Gm consider moving to 5 speed autos? Even mini vans now days are commign out with 5 speed

They are. In fact GM is working with Ford to develop a 6-speed auto, though I think this is only for cars. GM will likely have a 5- or 6-speed in trucks/SUVs before long.

I have heard several comments about how GM was waiting until there was true demand for more than 4 gears. Customers very rarely (if ever) ask dealers why the trasnmission is only a 4-speed. I'd guess that 95% of the general car buying public doesn't care how many gears the transmission has. Many ppl could hardly tell you what kind of engine is in their car!

That being said, I agree that to stay competitive GM needs new transmissions. People may not really notice or care about the extra gear, but competitive dealers are no doubt using their cars' extra gears as a selling point.

The new Ford Fusion thats coming out soon will have a six speed auto in the V6 version...could this be the tranny that ford and gm have been working on?

Yes it is.

Also, If I'm not mistaken this next round of full sized trucks that start coming out at the end of next year are going to have 6 speed auto's. They are changing, slowly but..... slowly.

Looks like it would be really hard to get an intake on that bottom turbo. actually it looks like it is suckin air right over the exhaust manifold!

Don't they both go to the airbox though?

And thanks for hosting the pic!!

they should, all in all it looks like a really tight fit. how would the intake for the bottom one not touch the exhaust manifold? I'll just take one turbo... that should do me right

I wonder if they left the exhaust pipes like that.. that would be awesome!

Nah, if your gonna do it, do it right. I've never seen you wimp out jimmyjam, you're the guy who ripped out his whole interior to put in a radio

The nice thing is that it looks like it may connect to a stock airbox with parts that would obviously be provided with the setup which means those who have a Volant, K&N, or an Airaid should be good to keep their setup.

Did no one notice this little quote?

"Higher-performance chassis, steering, and brake bits that will be found on the SSR also plug and play in the TrailBlazer, since they share a considerable amount of platform commonality."

Makes me wonder which parts we could use.

i read that as well, but i figured the tb ss would have far better stuff to offer us than ssr.

from the looks of the intake pipes, it is set up to run w/out filters
