Hello TrailVoy!
I just got a good sized shipment of 2002-2005 Trailblazer/Envoy PCM's for a great price, so I am going to pass the savings on to you. This deal is only good while the PCM's last! I will run this special until the last one is sold and will keep this post updated with the number of PCM's.
I have 12 PCM's that are available at this price. Please call or email for availability before placing an order!
$150 includes everything...Shipping, tune, and you get to keep the PCM.
We start with the latest calibration from GM, and build a file specifically for your truck based on the ordersheet you submit. PCM's are in stock and will be shipped within 2-3 days of placing an order. You will need to perform a security relearn (we include instructions) and we also recommend a CASE relearn.
We are also still running our regular deal, which is the tuning for $99 if you do not need to use a core.
To pay or order, you may go through our website at www.pcmforless.com, or place an order by phone. To get the special price, scroll to the bottom of the Prices and Ordering Page (after clicking trailblazer) and fill out a Custom Payment sheet to chips@pcmforless.com, total $150 shipped. After paying, please fill out an ordersheet as well (don't forget to include your VIN!).
This special will run until further notice - enjoy!

What about a tune for an 06 I6?
The special does not apply to those, however we still have the $99 + $99 core charge for the '06.
The '06s use a different computer that are a little harder to come by and cost more money when we do find them.

Alvin,
I have an '04 TB LT with stock intake and exhaust. I am more concerned with drive-ability than peak hp. What differnces would there be with a tune? Also, would there be any impact to reliability, mpg, or emissions?

You will notice a very nice improvement to part throttle driveablity and response. We completely remap spark, fuel, and even camshaft advance along with shift points and shift timing. We also modify the factory torque management system.
If your not happy with it I'll buy it back.

Alvin,
I'm ready to make my order but, I have a few questions on your online order form.
1. Shift firness - How firm does 3 realy feel from the seat? Are we talking "tire chirpping" firm shifts on WOT? How about at cruzin speeds? Are they jarring?
2. Fuel - If I choose regular (87) fuel, and have to tow a small load (1500 lbs) in the near future, any chance I'll experience engine knock?
3. Towing - I'll probably tow something small once every two years. Should I even make a choice here?
4. I live in Hawaii now and will be moving to Sierra Vista, AZ. early next year (march). Altitude over there is over 4600 feet and I maybe working in Tucson where it could get hot under the hood. Should I be looking into making any PCM changes for this?
Thank you for your time.
Aloha!

Selecting 3 is a very harsh shift, I don't recommend it to anyone who drives the truck every day. For some people it is what they really want, but most people are fine with just a 2, which is a huge improvement over stock without being uncomfortable.
I wouldn't worry about the towing on 87, shouldn't be a problem. If its only every 2 years or so don't worry about putting it on the order sheet. We are mainly looking for people who are towing stuff constantly, or towing heavy loads, so that we can set the tunes up safely.
We charge $50 for reflashes...so when you move next year, you can send in the PCM and we will change it accordingly for the jump in altitude!!

Got my PCM, 15 mins ago, put it in the truck 5 mins ago, waiting for the Security relearn to go through.. cant wait to see the proformance increase! Got my truck hooked up to a trailer with 60 - 80# bags of concrete, that was harden from moisture, so they are more like 90#.. anyway I cant wait to get this thing running, and see how it pulls that trailer.
So far, I have been impressed by this company (PCMforLess) they are very quick on answering questions, and have awsome prices! I would buy from them again. I hope the tune is as good as their customer service!
Oh an the $150 special is amazing, and they got $50 reflashes!
Ill will repost with the results of the PCMforLess flash, along with the config I got flashed. Hope it increases my MPG, I currently get 10.4 MPG, I have a lead foot.

Any problems doing light/medium towing (around 3500 lbs) with the 89/91 tune?

Well, from the tune I have (87/91 for I6), no. I said I towed and wonder what the differences in the tune actually are. I cant report on towing as my boats are put away for the winter.

I don't tow that often but I don't want to lose the ability since you never know when I'll want to haul something and since I traded the Jimmy in on the Malibu, the TB is my only tow vehicle.

Call round to a few independent shops that work on late model GM. Any time a crankshaft position sensor gets replaced the CASE (CKP) relearn is supposed to be done, so a good shop should be familiar with the procedure. I found a guy in the Dallas-McKinney TX area with a Tech2 and he did mine and a couple of friends for a very reasonable fee. Takes all of 5 min to do.
I would say the PCM should be able to compensate for the difference in air density and volume btwn stock and your future CAI mod, so it shouldn't really be a problem if you run it stock a while.

Dont worry about it, it might be a little rich, but nothing serious. The I6 doesnt seem to have the huge A/F problems the V8s do with this (read some of the SS CAI and tune threads).

HP is dependent on your stock engine, but I know Alvin's 05 I6 puts out ~205hp and 195tq, but as he stated in the thread the pull was in 2nd, not 3rd which probably would show more accurate and higher numbers.
Thread is here: http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=14818
Cost, $150 for a tune + PCM core (awesome deal) and you remove your stock PCM from the side of your engine (4 bolts + 3 bolts for the electrical, how to in articles), swap the new one in, do a VATS relearn (article section again), and play!:D

I just got my new PCM today and it is working great! My question is what is the charge if I ship you my factory PCM to have the calibrations set to what I just ordered on the new PCM but retain factory CASE settings and then ship you the PCM you just sent me?($99 or $50) $50 would be great since all the dealers and shops around here want at least $100 for CASE relearn.

Physically they are the same, logically they are different. The big difference is the one tuned by pcmforless if tuned for you, for your truck, using your inputs. Think of it like a pcm personalized for your specific vehicle, meeting your needs and what you use your truck for and what you want your truck to do. The factory pcm is basically a generalized pcm. They take the most common uses for a certain vehicle and make that the default if you will.

The chip is part of the PCM in these trucks...it is inside of it and cannot be changed. Older cars/trucks (1993 & older) have chips that come out. So while we say we are reflashing the PCM, technically we are flashing the chip inside of the PCM if that makes more sense to you.
If you hear someone talking about a chip for a newer vehicle, they are usually talking about some kind of plug in module...which is normally a huge waste of money. They do not change much at all...where as we are going in and completely reworking the way the truck runs & drives.

Yep, if you try and piggyback a chip on a tuned PCM, you are asking for trouble. End result cant be good.

I just installed my PCM. All I have to say is Thank you!!! Install was a piece of cake, didn't even have to reset radio stations. The TB always felt a bit strained and sluggish, huge improvement in lower end grunt and mid range torque. I would step down on it at 25 mph before and it would bog and protest, then finally build some steam and go, then loose all that steam as soon as it hit 2nd gear, you wait again for 4,500rpm so the power would come on and then it would go again just to leave you hangin' after it shifts. Not anymore, you hit it at 25mph and it jumps for the sky, it has a steady power band that is so much more gratifying, the next gear comes and that old sluggish bog is history, you can hear it a bit snarlier through the CAI and the shift are nice and crisp. That 1st to 2nd shift is great, the headlights go for the sky and it keeps pulling. The dyno sheet on their web site pretty much tells the truth. Almost 50lbs more torque from 3,500 all the way to 5,000. The h.p numbers are up 40hp in some parts of the rpm range. Truly amazing, that PCM is worth its weight in gold to me. My tune is 2wd, 3.73 gears, shift #2, 91+ premium fuel. Super fast delivery also.. Thanks Alvin..
Sorry for the rambling!,:x

Hey Erik,
Thanks for the welcome. I have been considering doing the cat back system, my only concern is the sound. The inline has a nice sound if your driving a classic Jag or even a supra, but it doesn't seem to really suite the truck. Is it much louder than the stock system? I would welcome the extra power but don't want all the screaming I6 sound to go with it. I have also purchased a header that I am reluctant to install. Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
Jason

I love the Magnaflow kit catback. Its all stainless (tubing, mufflers, tips) and sounds great. I need to get a sound clip of it as a few other people want a system too but want to make sure it sounds good.
I love it, sounds like a small V8 to me. A little louder until ~3500rpm, and then it gets progressively louder until redline (but still pretty tame). It doesnt sound ricer, it sounds powerfull IMO. A little drone at 2000rpm, but just let off or punch the gas and its gone immediately. Mileage didnt change, and doubt I got any hp/tq increase, but it sure looks good compared to the stock system!
And, you have a header? From who?

So Alvin,
Sorry if I am in the wrong thread...
1. In the context of GM's factory tune, what the heck is everybody talking about when they refer to "torque management"?
2. Regarding the factory dyno sheet you posted for your truck... Why does the stock power curve ramp up so inconsistently? (i.e. the curve looks "bumpy" or "jagged" instead of smooth)
3. I have an '06 I6. What kind of gains could I expect to yield from your tune? Will I be as happy as all these '02-'05 guys seems to be? I really don't want to loose any low end torque (i.e. 1,500 to 3,500 rpm). I only have about 2,500 miles on my Envoy 4WD. I have 3.73s, and would probably ask for a 91 octane tune (and run 93 most of the time to be safe). I don't trailer anything now, but would like to tow a small trailer with ATV's or jet skis in the future. I want to keep the stock exhaust and air filter box.
My last vehicle was a Mach 1. So 4,600 lbs. is never going to feel sporty to me. But I have some $ burning a hole in my PayPal account, so why not get a tune, right?

Are there any of these left? If so, is the cost $99 even if I want to keep my stock PCM?
Has anyone seen any mpg difference with the tune? This would be for an 02 Bravy.

Hi!
1. Torque management is a program inside the computer that reduces torque between gear shifts, power braking, and etc. Most people think a tune involves just turning this off. Besides slightly softer shifts and a weak start from complete stop you would not notice the difference between a truck with torque management and one with it. As a general rule unless the truck does major towing we reduce torque management a specific amount. If the truck does tow we reduce torque management but not as much as the next truck that does not.
2. The stock curves are really rough because the stock programming keeps the fuels VERY lean for a specific amount of time after you floor it. So you can floor it off idle and the AFR will stay around 14.7:1 until a time expires where then the AFR drops to something more reasonable. An improved fuel an timing table cleans this curve ups. Also propietary adjustments to cam timing help torque output in the lower, mid and high rpm ranges.
3. You can expect the exact same gains as the 02-05 TB's. You will notice quite a bit better throttle response, vastly improved shifting, and more torque and longer.

I think I have 1 or two left.
Personally on my 05 TB i6 I haven't seen less than a 2mpg improvement. Results vary from person to person and driving style.

What about the cost? Is it $99 and I keep the stock PCM or do I have to return my stock one for that price?
I haven't picked up the car yet, but will probably get it in the next couple days assuming everything goes well.

When do you plan on getting more of these? Its basically a win-win situation with more power, better shifting AND better gas mileage.

I placed the order yesterday, so they should be arriving within the week. You can still submit an order, and it will be shipped as the PCM's come in. I have a couple cores that were returned over the weekend (from when before we ran this special).

Does this only apply to the older PCM's ('02-'05) or does it apply to all of them? I just ordered a PCM for my 2006 Trailblazer I6 (yesterday) and I haven't received a reply from anyone about whether my order and payment was received, shipping information, etc.

Yes it is still in effect. To get the special, scroll to the very bottom of that prices and ordering page, to the custom order form. Pay to chips@pcmforless.com, $150 (including shipping), and just write in the box that it is for the trailvoy special. :)

I know this has been asked before but does PCM tuning void warranty? I think I've heard that it could but there's no way a GM warranty service shop would know without specifically looking at the computer. But, I'd rather be on the safe side and perhaps wait until my warranty is up if there is more than little doubt.

I would like to see this answered as well if any one knows. I'm considering taking my B-day money and ordering one.
Also how are updates handled? If GM posts an update how do you do that? I would think that if you took it to the dealership they would overlday the tune if they reflashed the computer. So if I put the stock back in I get it updated, but then how do I get the "tuned" one updated?

If it is an update that you need you would just send the computer back to us. We have the latest calibrations here, and would reflash it and retune it, then ship it back to you. If you go to the dealership it will overwrite everything.

They can't tell, the dealerships don't have things like EFIlive/HPtuners where they could view the inside of a computer file. We have been tuning for 7 years now and have yet to hear of any voided warrantys.

CASE relearn is an advanced way for reporting misfire data between the cam and crank sensor...it doesn't hurt to not have it done, but some of our customers who get one done say that it does help.
Those of you who placed orders this weekend - thank you. I have another load of PCM's on the way so please sit tight, I will ship shortly!! :) :)
