Last week I had the dealer replace my guage cluster because it was making some noise.

Yesterday, I noticed that the 4x4 switch is not working. The lights aren't lit and I don't think the transfer case is switching. When they took the dash apart, could the 4x4 switch have become disconnected, or is that switch part of a larger wiring harness? Everything else seems to be working just fine.

If the mode selector switch wont light up even on the startup diagnostic cycle, like you say- it's electrical connector is probably loose.

Did the above suggestions help? If it's not the switch and pulling the #8 fuse helped, it's likely the TCCM (Transfer Case Control Module). This was around a $400 fix for me from the dealership. My Service 4X4 light was on also.

It turned out that the dealer broke a connector on the 4x4 switch when they replaced the gauge cluster. They replaced the switch and it works again.
