The speedo in the SS says 140mph. Has anyone gone this fast? How fast will it go? has anyone tried yet? lol

Our reg I6 LTZ will do 112mph before the speed restricter cuts it out. :( We did that comming back from our ski trip in colorado :D

I touched 115 and the front end started feeling light so I backed off. Don't know if I got a good head wind or what but I'll give it another go one of these days.

Did it feel like it would keep going?

Definitely. That was the tough part; lift or keep pushing it. Playing it safe so I can try again.

It WILL do 140 with the 130 MPH limiter programmed out.

Have you done it before?

How would the tires hold up? Dont want them to blow lol

I have bounced off 140.

I guess you could lose any tire at any speed. The SS has decent speed ratings and there should be some cushion in there as well.

You better slow down or your Dad will be kicking your tail when he gets back. I heard you Mom telling you....

Spend a couple years behind the wheel of your 112mph TB then you can move up to a SS when you are out of school :)

A ticket at that speed would surely include a free trip to jail and impound of your vehicle...lol

Ive hit 107 about 4-6x in my 02. First 3x were sans tune, and the last time (about a week or so ago) was with my tune. It pulled so much harder up to the limiter I was impressed. I could feel it not having the extra ummph the SS probably has at 90+, but I can get my TB to 80-85 pretty quickly from 60.:D

Here is 130mph with NO tune and the muffler delete.
I did 4 runs but the best video was only to 130mph.
The limiter does kick in at 135mph.
Sorry, not the best video... hard to drive with one hand and hold the camera still with the other.
I'll try it soon with the tune and try to video it again and put the needle all the way down :D

i hit 137mph on the way home from the dealer (i think the limiter kicked in) i just wanted to see what it would do. not for the timid and experience at an oval track is strongly recommended before you try this. this is the wifes vehicle and it's one fast grocery getter! i love hearing the stories about people she has spanked while out getting grocerys!!!

You can outrun the cop cars, but you can't outrun their radios, or a chopper if they get that aggresive. All it takes is for them to broadcast an APB on you to make your life miserable. If you are doing this on an 2 lane highway in the middle of nowhere, it won't take them long to figure out your possible exit points and to have backup waiting.

I read somwhere that over 85% of chases end up in the cops d dropping out for the safety of everyone.

So just keep going, and then make a bunch of blind turns.

Without a GPS it doesn't really matter since speedos on evrything made are always off.

My 2006 Yamaha FZ1 went 159 on GPS Sat night but the speedo was saying (digital) 178...

Ahh, another Cincinnatian on the forums! Was it the state troopers that busted you? Or the Cincinnati fuzz? Speed enforcement is a religion around here :(

WannabeSS, that would just piss them off. Even if you did get away, you better garage the truck and not drive for a while, because they'll remember you.

I hit almost 120 at Pikes Peak a little over a month ago. I am used to 1/4 mile crap in a street car so that was actually pretty scary. I have driven this track with a 78 Vette and a Mazda hybrid, but this was the first time that I ever took anything street legal out there. Also when I weighed the SS at the track she came in at just over 4800 pounds. That was without me in the car, a little over 1/4 tank of gas, and without the space tire. It was not the smoothest ride, but with all those variables, no suspension mods, sway bars, etc, I was very impressed!

Lovely state troopers... Blasted past him trying to slow down from 125mph, but only managed to get to 101 when he clocked me... He pulled out, I kept haulin it, but was headed off by backup further on up the road....

That's what scares the crap out of me, because there really are people who think they can drive and outrun cops like the game NFS:MW. You guys who actually outran cops, just consider yourself lucky, and thank God for your luck.

02-Bravada-88, you might have recieved more lenient treatment had you immediately stopped and pulled over. The fact that he had to call backup pissed him off immensely.

Yea ppl. Consider yourself lucky that Officer Phil had his donut those days. :nono:

lol j/k

But really. Just pull over unless your doing 160 because then they come up to you with their guns drawn and **** and i dont like guns getting pointed at me so im just gonna make blind turns and loose the cops. :o

It's better to just pull over and let them pull you out of your car and pound you to the pavement. If you try to make a run for it, you will be facing multiple felonies and a serious jail term. Just remember that as long as you don't make sudden movements, they arn't going to actually fire the gun at you. It would be much better to live with one felony(yes, those are felonius speeds in most states), than several which could ruin your life. I know that you are about to turn 16, so please especially becareful when you start driving.

10-15-2006, 02:54 PM
^or just stay under 100...

Why would they pull a gun on you for speeding? O_O I still dont get that.

So I got a chance to streach out the SS last night, It quickly pulled to 140 mph. The only thing that was odd was the fact it wouldn't shift out of 3rd. As It dipped a little past 140 mph I notice that I was running around 6600 RPMs. Whats with that?

wannabeSS
10-16-2006, 05:26 PM
Maybe it just would not shift into overdrive. That happend to my dad in the infiniti. He was doing about 130 and it would not shift into overdrive..
