Do I need new brake clips when I replace the pads and rotors? Can these clips be purchased seperately and what is the estimated price?

Thanks

I guess its a tough question.

New clips usually come with OEM or more expensive pads. If your pads didn't come with them, I carefully pry them off the calipers clean them up with a scotch-brite pad and some brake cleaner. If they are not bent, broke or worn away, snap them back in place & they are good to go.

Thanks..I ordered/bought the Akebono ceramics and I should get them this week. I don't think they come with the clips so I might have to order them separate. The dealership wants $36.00 per rear axle and I have to buy the front pads from the dealership in order to get the front clips. The Raybestos clips for front and rear are $20 plus shipping.

Does this look like the clip required? It may not be the identical one but Its taken from the Rockauto website for caliper hardware kit more info.

That might be a generic photo. Same basic part though.

For a 2004 TB? Nahh. I wouldn't bother with new ones unless the old ones are worn away. Carefully pry them off of the caliper casting and shine them up really well with a solvent, brake cleaner, etc.. and a scotch-brite pad. If they look smooth, reuse them. I apply a small amount of silicone grease to the wear surface of the clips as well. Seems to keep the pads floating as they should for longer.

I wouldn't order them till you know that the new pads don't include them, but like said above, just reuse the old ones if they clean up fine.
