Has anyone tried installing a Propan tank in their trailvoy? i know seems like a silly question, but my old car had it and woohoo it used to fill up v8 for just $35/cdn and ran over 400kms.
Anyone? am very interested in this deal, the price for propan right now is 45cents/L where for gas is $1.10/L

thnx

I am also intersted in installing an Alternative fuel source like propane.

Does anybody have any details on how to get this done or how much it might cost?

I didn't know you could convert a gas engine to run on propane. Don't they use propane on diesel engines to boost power? Like nitrous on a gas engine.

Umm, i thought u guys would have a better understanding then i have..but i'll just type all the info i know. I had a Lincoln LS which is v8, my dad had the propane tank installed, i had the option to run on gas or propane. It had a lil switch inside right below the dashboard which allows you to switch it to gas or propane. The propane costed i think around $3000, but the canadian gover pays hafl of the price, am not sure how much they are now. I saved alot of money with the tank, The only thing which am worried about is the trunk. In cars the trunks are separate but in suvs, the trunk is all open. So am not sure if the law is againest this. might not be safe.
Am going to ask my dad to find out bout it, i wanna be able to fill up a tank for $30 cdn again:(..right now am paying $90

If you are planning on doing the propane conversion for any fuel savings,I would say that it may not be cost-effective to do...My reasoning is this:Historically,petroleum-based fuels(gasoline/diesel,etc.)and propane costs follow the very same curve...I know this fact because I sell home heating systems(oil and gas-fired boilers and furnaces)and in our business, we closely follow pricing trends that occur in their respective markets...I do know one guy that runs just about EVERYTHING he owns on propane, only because his father runs a bulk propane facility(guess how cheap he gets his fuel for!) that sells to outfits like Suburban Propane,Ameri-Gas, and the like...Just my 2 cents on the subject...I don't really know if the conversion cost vs. savings can be realized or not....Once again,I am only going from this one perspective... :)
