I have a 04 convert vette. I also have a Fx4 F150. Of course my truck lease is up in november and the vette in may, so backwards here in michigan and i really don't want to try the car through the winter.
Called the dealer today i have 5 payments left on the vette at 650 a month, with the current pull ahead it would only cost me 972 to get out of it.
New payment with the roll in for a AWD with cloth and stereo/sun package is 411, and for the 2WD was 380 with around 600 due at signing. This wasa 27 month lease.
Sounds like a good deal i wanted to hear how you guys liked yours.
I live in Michigan so i was wondering if i can get by with the 2WD with the traction control, on some days i have to drive a lot for the job and the roads could be bad, mostly expessway driving though.
How is the cloth interior vs the leather. Any options or things i need to know or look for on them?
Was thinking White or Blue.
And if you have any pics of yours that would be great if you posted them =).
Thanks for the help

Regardless of what the dealers say traction control does not help make a two wheel drive get around better. Just seems to help people that dont know how to get around.
I am in Iowa. Would not consider a 2WD for winter daily driving. Your winters are the same as ours, so I would think wisely.

My sister bought a new CTS and the dealer told her dont worry about getting around. It has locking differential and traction control !!
She sold it 2 months into the first winter.
I am not saying you cant get by. Heck we all drove 2WD 30 years ago. But we all moved away from a stoplight at the same speed.
Now you are in a crowd of AWD and FWD and they will be honking at ya !!
You would like a stripped down SS. So what do you want for options. I bought a loaded one that did not have rainsense or the NAV. I really did not want the NAV and the rainsense.. Well I am not sure I need it.
Actually, mine did not have the cargo shade. Last week I called the dealer and $163 later I was fixed up.
So options are up to you :)

My but tells me to tell you to ditch the ford 4x4 and keep the vette, but where you are tells me you may be better off to keep the truck and let the vette go. As an old vette owner, its hard for me to say, but I live in Ms and we dont have snow.
2wd vs all wheel drive is also a debate. I have a 2wd and love it...and I hear the awd dont perform as well....so its your call.
Options are another issue. I love the leather and seat warmers:D I have low back problems and those heaters are the stuff!!!
No matter what you choose for options, you'll love the TBSS! Enjoy, and welcome to the club!

Hi thanks for the replies.
My truck lease is up next month, so by rolling the vette in i will be down to one car.
I would drive the TBSS all year.
I love the vette, i will get a new z06 one day, but need to get a new house before then =).
The one my dealer is talking about is a 07 with cloth. I just listened to his message again its 629.85 down and 411.85 a month for 27 months with 972 rolled in from my vette thats with taxes also. I currently pay 900 a month for the truck and vette so will be a nice savings. I would like the leather with heated seats and navigation for work if its decent but i don't want to jump the price up to much more anyone have a rough idea what that would add? This is with the GM discount also.
Thanks again

As far as colors, you will find Black, White and Silver are probably 90% of the trucks out there. Blue is not as common but very nice and the Red Jewel tint (premium color) is even rarer.
I have never seen a red one in person.

I will comment on the heated seats and Nav, also AWD. Te heated seats are wonderful, as stated above I too have a trick back... they work wonders on cold days. The NAV has never failed me. I am a Captian with the Local Red Cross and have had to go to places I have never been too, the NAV got me there and back flawlessly. I know my winters are not nearly as bad as your, however, 3 weeks after I got mine we have a 12 inch snowfall. I woke early on perpuse so I could try it out. Unplowed I couldnt get the thing to screwy. I plowed right through it no problems at all. With Stabilatrac and TC off, I had some fun!!! As far as performance, after running with a guy with a 2wd TBSS side by side at the track with the same mods.. he was only 2 tenths quicker then I. If you dont mind paying for the extra goodies I say go for it, you wont be disapointed.
Welcome to the group, I hope you stay for a while!!

Anyone have a pic of the navigation system? Can't seem to find one. Any idea about how much leather and the navi would add to a 27 month lease a month?
Thanks

My two cents:
I've had my white TBSS for just about a year, it's AWD with everything but NAV and DVD.
Last year's Minnesota winter gave me deep snow, slushy crap, and glare ice, sometimes in the same week. The SS drove way better than I ever expected even with the factory tires. It has driven great for every season. The combination of stabilitrack, traction control, AWD, 4:10 gears, posi, and 400 HP, is simply awesome. You get up to speed with little effort. The heated seats are excellent. One thing I should have done immediately, before driving in snow/salt, was to install front mud flaps. This will save you from having snow stuck to your doors all the way up to your windows.
I can say that this is by far the best year round vehicle I've ever owned, especially with some minor engines upgrades.
In fact, my wife thought it was so good, she bought an identically optioned Blue TBSS two months later when her lease was up.

Winter driving is all in the driver.
Provided they plow the roads and you are not driving through deep snow.
When I lived in Illinois (25 miles in the country from the "big city" which has a population of 16k people), I drove a 1994 Ford Lightning and a 1994 Vette. They did not always get our roads plowed very well or early in the day but I always made it to work.
When I move back in a few years I am going to take my 2WD and not even think twice about it.

I'm a 2wd in Michigan, I know it's a little trickier in the winter (I drove a C5 for two winters), but the extra performance for the other 9-10 months a year is well worth it. Plus I think AWD guys are having a few more tranny/driveline problems than 2wd guys (but I guess that's what warranty is for). I would spring for the leather if you could, makes an already "iffy" interior considerably better looking IMO. Either way, you will be happy with your SS, particularly after it gets a "tune".

A tune? What would you recommend? Anything in BOLD RED? haha

I have a pic of the nav system in my gallery (2005 TB LT EXT, not SS but I think is pretty much the same). http://gallery.trailvoy.com/showphoto.php/photo/2510/cat/506/ppuser/1348/sl/m
There is a blue SS at the dealer around the corner from my work. I think that would be my choice.

I would have to say that AWD is the way to go. I've been caught in a few of those MI snowstorms, and 2WD shouldn't even be considered, unless you plan on running snow tires during the winter. Cloth vs. leather is going to come down to personal preference. I'm not sure if they are availalble on the newer TBSS, but I have to recommend avoiding the rainsense wipers. They can really piss you off.............

Test drove one today, i liked it a lot.
Still on the fence between White and Blue, i need to make up my mind tonight my dealer is going to dealer trade for a AWD,Leather,Navi think it stickered for just under 41k.
Final deal i got was 700 down, rolling 972 into new lease from my vette, and a 481 payment a month. The jump is about 70 bucks for just leather and navi a month but i really did not like the cloth interior and the seat warmers will be very nice.
Also sometimes i get caught pretty far out i had to drive about 120 miles one way for work last night, so on occasions like the 2wd would just not be worth chancing it.
Since i am local already PM'd and made arrangements to get my tune done in the next week or 2.
So............................
White or Blue????
I am leaning a bit towards white because i don't have a garage and think it will be a bit easier to clean and with the windshield and side windows tinted will look pretty good.
Thanks again for the help so far!
Go for White...but I am biased.

Heres a photo of the Navi
As for the 4x4 in Micigan you might want to have that. The winters in Iowa have been mild so I went with the 4 x 2 to save some duckies. No problems getting around.
