So, I'm working from the house today, conference calls ya know...
Anyway, doorbell rings at noon. It's USPS. PCM IS HERE!! I wrap up the phone call, and tear into it.
Great packaging. Instructions, Business Cards, Sticker, bubble wrapped and styrofoamed.
I go outside and raise the hood.
Disconnect the negative battery lead.
Check that the power is dead.
After unplugging the PCM plugs, three quick snaps and the old PCM is out.
Reverse the procedure, reconnect the PCM plugs, reconnect the battery.
Installation literally takes less than 5 mins.
After the security relearn procedure, I couldn't not take it for a quick spin down the street. :D:D
Shifts are MUCH better. Engine sounds better. Everything has more pep!
For those on the fence, or debating, be like Nike, and JUST DO IT!
P.S. PCMFORLESS was GREAT to deal with through this whole transaction.

Any Idea when you guys might get '07 PCM's in? I just can't send mine, actually how long would you need it? Maybe I should just call, :D I just couldn't resist posting.
Thanks,

Awesome, youre in Kirkland!! Im in Seattle, near Lake City (if you know where that is).
I highly recommend the PCM4Less tunes, they are great from my experience on my 02 I6.

I totally know where that is (Lakecity) I drive through at least once a week on my way to UW meetings. I am hoping to get a PCM4Less tune here soon. Thanks for the input!

DO IT!!! I know you might be without a TB for a day or so, but if you overnight your PCM to PCM4Less and then they overnight it back, you will only be down for ~4 days max. Ship on a Monday, they get Tues morning, ship Wed (Tues afternoon if you are lucky which they probably will), and get it back Wed/Thurs. It will be well worth your while, just remind the dealer to not upgrade your PCM calibration without your consent otherwise you will be asking PCM4Less for another tune.

Seems like you're the only guy with an '06. How do you like the tune after a few miles? Just ordered mine yesterday... What were your options?

Let's see, I did:
2, firm shiftpoints
premium fuel
remove speed limiter
Rev limiter, left at dealers choice.
Intake, K&N replacement, since I have a K&N element
stock cat & converter
no high altitude
no nitrous
no towing
It's noticeable out of the box. I installed it with only 500 miles on it, so that's only a tank and a half, but mileage is around 18-19 now. Hand calculated. I love it. It's great.

Great news - especially the mileage as I consistently get 13.5 - 14. Are the part throttle, city driving shifts ok - not too firm? I spend alot of time in L.A. traffic. Thanks!

No, they're not harsh, they're firm. It's where it should've been from the factory IMO. It's peppy, zippy now. Not neck breaking. :D

corona, what gas mileage were you getting before? I was getting 13.5-14 which sucked because I tried my best to get it higher. Can't understand those that have higher mpgs even w/o the tune????

Can't understand those that have higher mpgs even w/o the tune????It was only 500 miles before I put the tune in. The first tank got 15.5 MPG. The second tank creeped up a little to 16.5, but half of that was on the new PCM.

Sorry to bug you again man, but got the PCM today and the
connector plugs are like I've never seen - way different from
my '03. There are supposed to be some red release or lock
tabs??? Can't see 'em on mine. Any advice? JB

On mine, the tabs were not red. The plugs were black, and the tabs were gray. I circled one in red below.
Also note, the PCM itself is just snapped into place by the black tabs along the top. No wrenching to remove an '06 PCM - just unsnap it.

Yep, the 05+ I6 (w/MAF only) get that style PCM. From what I hear it is programmed more like a V8 ECM than the old I6 PCMs were, making it easier to write software for (aka TUNE).
