Hello All! I am new to the board and think it is really cool! Very informative!
I have an 06 SS I got back in June and really like it. I was always a Jeep Grand Cherokee guy before but didn't want to drop another 10 large for the SRT over what the SS goes for and I am glad I didn't.
I haven't seen any other threads on my subject but was wondering if anyone else has had any problems with passing power.
I will be going down a highway at say 60 or 65 mph and when I come up on a car to pass them and get in the passing lane and lay into it, it stays in the same gear and doesn't shift down and accelerate worth a crap!
I mean my 01 Jeep had the 4.7 in it and would leave my SS in the dust if I put them both to the floor at 60 mph. Anyone know what I am talking about or have or had the same problem? Thanks!

I'll be the first of many here to tell you to get a tune from one of the vendors on this board. More hp/tq and shift qwerks fixed. Best $300-$400 you'll spend:yes:

I had similar issues with my '04 I6 TB but deffinatly not with the SS. Maybe thats the difference in the shifting thats mentioned between the 06 and 07 though. Deffinatly tune and cai.

I have the Vector tune.

This week I was following a guy on a back road at an average speed of 120. No joke. He would slow down to about 100, then back up to 120. I was able to stomp it and pass him just like I would pass someone doing 55 in a 70 zone. No trouble. The TBSS went up to about 135ish (quickly) as I passed him by and then backed off. Nice. Scary, but nice.

Edited to say: I have been traveling this route quite a bit for the past two months and feel the need to pass everything on the road. While I can't be specific (scientific), it seems everyone is doing 60. If I stomp the TBSS, I'm easily doing 85 before my rear wheel passes their front wheel.

Thanks for the info folks! Appreciate it. Do you guys have a local shop do the install?
I will have to do some checking to see what I can find around where I live.

Are you in MI? Vector Motorsports is there and is a very popular tune here. Check out the sponsors section. There are quite a few that offer a tune. And some will let you send your core in or do a core swap so you don't have to travel anywhere for it.

And it is an install you can do on your own.

A little of topic, but your boys in the maize and blue better get it done this weekend against IN so you can come down here next weekend and get a proper thumpin'!:)

You do have stabilitrac and traction control off right? If not this could be your problem.

To turn em off hold the button on your shifter for 10 seconds.

first of all mine will downshift and then seeing as it is at the top of the rpm band go nowhere fast, but it will downshift...on mine it also doesn't matter if the traction control and stabilitrak are on or off...it seems faster if I gradually apply the throttle just enough to unlock the torque converter without shifting down too many gears...I love the truck but it certainly could use the six speed auto from the Caddy

I am from Sioux Falls, SD. I found a shop in town I know of, Excessive Autosports that does a lot of work on LS1 and 2 motors, LOT of Vette's and the company they use with their tunes came out with the one for the TBSS

I would get a tune ASAP, it is the best mod you can do (short of a s/c or t/c).

Check with that shop, if they use Westers Garage for tuning, then they use the same tune as TuneTime Performance does which is excellent.

To turn em off hold the button on your shifter for 10 seconds.

He is going 60-65 when he romps it. If his traction control or stabilitrack kicks in, then he has some other issues.

You need a tune. I am talking a good tune and not one of these $150 ones where they dont touch the TCM.

In my opinion the transmission "fixes" in a performance tune makes it worthwhile even if you leave the 1/4 to 1/2 second you can pick up in the quarter mile.
