Does it bother anyone else that there is no interior light in the footwell of our trucks. Has anyone else addressed this with some type of light down there. I am looking for function not flash. If so what did you use and where did you get power for it. I was thinking of a clear multi-led pod (3 or 5) style that could be hidden down there but give good light. Any ideas?
Thanks

ltz03 any chance you have a night pic, thats basically what I thought I needed. Someone else metioned a tube style light but I thought that would be to ricer (approiate for my nissan) I was looking for something modest. Not to hijack my own link but I also like the lights that my mini has that lights the ground when the door is open. It is a light under the door. Any ideas on that

eh?
Not sure why anyone would need footwell lights (aside from 'flash') because when you open the door or hit the keyfob, all the lights come and and lites up the interior like you wouldn't believe!!
At least thats what my 03 LT does..

I'd like some footwell lights too...especially if you drop something down there while driving and don't know where it went...if you had a light you could see if it was underneath any of the pedals posing a hazard...but me, I'd reach down there and get it...:nono:
What wires did those that hooked up some lights tap into?

I haven't done the wiring yet, but the wiring diagram listed in resources section of the website says there is a grey/white wire located at the fuse box under the rear seat.

You could always go with the OEM light assembly for that footwell area.
There's one on my '02 TB (and presumably for a few model-years thereafter). The lower trim panel on the SS even has the opening for where this OEM light assy clips into.... Its the same panel; GM just removed the light+wiring for cost-cutting purposes.

Grabbed power from the fuse box right there. I ran one line for both passenger and driver side. The switch is right above the light.
I got the lights from

Yeah - I think this is one of the cheesiest things GM did - not include footwell lights and an underhood light on these trucks. These trucks have almost everything else, and then they don't include this. Cheap SOB's.

as for finding power, if you get anything LED, you can always go to your autoparts store and pick up the add-a-circuit kit. then with a voltmeter figure out which ones are on when you want the lights on.
i just did this with my Emergency Warning Lights

for people that used the add-a-circuit kit to add footwell lights... what fuse did you tap into..
im looking for them to act as my courtesy lights.. ie come on when they do..

i don't remember which one was that one exactly, the other way you could do it is change the dome light to an LED one and then run a wire that is attached to the positive side of the dome light to the area of the footwell lights. if your footwell lights are also LEDs then you should not have to worry about running too much power throught the small wires that are used for the dome light.
this way the footwell lights would come on with the dome light

i currently have LEDs in my dome lights, but how would i run a wire from there to the footwell...

I kind of like the LED approach to this, not from a flash aspect but from a functional aspect. I am subscribing to this thread in order to research this further.
Not to hijack a thread, but.........
What if I mounted these under the doors?

I put one red trailer clearance light on each side.
Took a test light and tied into the back of the light switch and have it one the same lights as the dash lights so i can cange the intensity of the light!
Did this to my last car two and couldn't live without it. Was the first mod I did when I brought my TB home.
I did red because it doesn't mess with your eyes at night, there is a reason that airplane dashes and interior lights are red.

I want to put in footwell lights to come on with my dome lights. Aside from running a wire from the fusebox under the seat or running a wire from a dome light are their any other alternatives. Maybe a wire i can tap into somewhere up near the dash? i was thinking one of the wires for the light controls would work but i didnt find any.

:iagree: Is it possible to get the footwell lights that came w/ our '02 TB's, and install them in a later model....doesn't seem that it would be a big deal.

I have an 02 and I just replaced all my interior bulbs to led's. I completely forgot about the footwell bulb. Does anyone know if that's also a 194 bulb?
