Anybody know anything about the air lft 1000 kit for the TB? What exactly does in do? Does it lift the rear end at all?

I just ordered a set for my TB. I bought them from streetbeat.com for $86.00, thats with shipping. I hope they level the ride out for towing, also for a little stiffer ride as well. Thats why I'm buying them, and another thing my TB has been lowered with the Ground Force kit. I guess that I'm going to be a ginnie pig too. I will see if they work on 3in lowered springs in the rear or not. :worried: I hope they do. I will keep you informed on the progress.

Seige, thanks for the link, it looks fairly easy to install. Does it lift the rear end at all?

I dont think theyre supposed to lift the rear end as much as stiffen up the coils when a heavy load is applied, therefore not allowing the rear end to sag. They are designed to help control the "tail wagging the dog" senerio where too long of a trailer is forcing the truck to sway back and forth. They also allow the rear shocks to rebound more than without them because they hold the springs up higher.
I am going to order mine sometime during the winter after I put aside some money for mods from summitracing.com for $66.88+handling. Ship is free. When I save the money, I am also going to order the Load Controller 2 for the air bags, a tranny cooler from B&M Racing, a B&M Tranny temp guage, and a B&M shift improver. Hopefully, these mods will help my TB tow a little better on long trips.

At 25 PSI I get about 3/4" of lift out of mine. But I have the SuspensionMAXX coil spacers too, so I like the extra free lift. Body roll is about half of what it was before the air bags.
With shorter springs, you may need to run 15 or 20 PSI max.

Thats great! :D I didnt know they actually lift your truck without a load applied to it! I would like the extra free lift as well as the roadie does, so this is looking more and more appealing.. :undecided

If you are putting the Air Lifts on a LOWERED vehicle, you need to get the proper air bags! The ones specified for the Trailblazer/Envoy are for the stock spring height. If you lower it in the rear you need to get different bags, in my case, the kit for the Kia Sedona #60763 which is the same diameter but 1.5" shorter to match the lower springs. This as per Air Lift tech support. I have included the email response I got when I was buying mine. I am really glad I checked first!
Don't expect a lot of lift from these. They are made to increase the load capacity, not lift the rear end. They will lift it about 1/2".

The kit for standard vehicles (60779) includes bags that measure 4.35x9.0" and 1" thick protectors that go underneath. If you order the kit for the Kia Sedona (60763) this kit wil include bags that measure 4.35x8.0", and the protectors are .5" thick, so you will have 1.5" less overall height.I have attached the correct installation manual for your Trailblazer in case you decide to use the Kia kit.

tblazed, Thanks for the info. Its a little late for me, but I ordered the wrong kit for my lowered TB. I ordered the stock height kit, which was wrong for my TB, because I have lowered mine. This is great info. I also called air lift and the tech said the same thing as you have mentioned in your post. Sent mine back today and ordered the right one. Thanks. :duh:

Thanks for the info! Im sure the guys here who have lowered TB/Voys will appreciate the info. My TB is stock height, and probably will stay so because I snow ski a lot and need the clearance sometimes. The cost of the lowering kit just doesnt make sense for me, but I have seen some really cool looking TBs that look awesome lowered!

Ok guys, this is some good info. This is what I have found out. If you want to have a little more towing capacity in you TB or Envoy this is what you need to do, if you want air ride air bags. If you have the stock ride height set up you need part #60779, If you have lowered you TB or Envoy 2in in the rear you need part # 60763 Kia Sedona bags. If you have lowered you TB or Envoy 3in in the rear you need part # 60743 for the Toyota 4 Runner. This info came from tblazed and the air lift techs that emailed me back and here is the responce that I got back from air lift.

For your vehicle with a 3" drop, the closest bags that we make are bags that measure 4.35 x 6.5". The only kit that we use these bags in is kit #60743 for the Toyota 4 Runner. This kit also includes very tall spacers that measure 2.5" tall. You could probably saw two .5" thick spacers from these and end up with a total of 7" combination, or 3" shorter than the stock setup. I have attached the correct installation manual for your Trailblazer in case you decide to use the 4 Runner kit.
I hope this helps anyone that is thinking of carrying an extra load or just wants to stiffing up your ride.
