I would like to ask if anyone has installed the Volant Cool Air Intake (CAI) on their TB or Envoy with a 4.2L engine? I need to cross check the Volant air duct or intake tube that I recently purchased since mine has a screwed L-shaped nozzle located underneath the tube which is beneath the Volant logo/sticker.

Was this designed for the 02-03 model engines? My 04 TB EXT has no features to connect it with except for the air temp sensor that plugs into the 1/2" rubber grommet.

I checked the items that came with the kit, all are accounted for although there are extra parts like a 4" rubber hose, 4" plastic nozzle extender/adaptor & cap. I presumed the cap is for plugging the L-shaped nozzle but what are the hose & extender for?

Any info from you guys would be great so I can start installing the kit soon. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Someone else had problems installing the same thing on an 05 TB. (http://forums.tbecentral.com/showthread.php?t=164)

Hopefully they will see your post and get back to you with some info about it.

Hey Jose, welcome to the site. I tried to install the Volant air intake on my 05 TB, as they had said that it would work for all 02-05's and couldn't do it because Volant didn't account for the L shaped tube that comes off of the factory intake. That tube goes to, if my memory serves me correctly, an air compressor and needs to be installed. What I had to do was to send the Volant back and order a K&N because they do account for the compressor. The K&N claims half of the gained HP as the Volant but is guaranteed to work. If you want, let me know and I will give you the part # for the K&N. I'm at work right now so I can't post it at this time.
