I'm planning to put Mobil 1 trans fluid (syn) when I change the trany filter. I bought 7 bottles just in case, but I was wondering, how do you flush ALL of the old fluid out? If I just drop the pan, there will probably be more still in there. If I put the mobil 1 in there and it mixes with a little of the old stuff, does anyone think it will cause a problem? Just trying to make sure before I waste these bottles.... they're really expensive:eek: but I figure I'm not going to do this all the time, so I might as well do it good. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

There is only one way to fully drain all the old oil out. It's thru the tranny service machine at the dealer, my cousins works for the dealer and I asked him the same thing. They hook up a machine full of new tranny oil, one hose supplies new and the other hose removes the old. When the tube shows fully cleaned oil, your tranny is fully changed of all old oils. I believe he says these trannies take about 11 - 14 quarts if I remember correctly.

I had the Dealer use their flush machine and put Mobil 1 in my GTP years ago. It took something like 15 qts.

15 quarts huh..... that's about 95$ :drool or more.... Worth it? or should I just use dexron III regular and be done with it? I do want the best for the truch though.....

I've only ever done that to one vehicle. Personally, I'm don't think it's worth the $$$. Changing the fluid regularly and maybe using an additive would probably be about as good.
Assuming you're not having any tranny problems and the fluid is not burned or anything you'll be fine just dropping the pan and changing the fluid you can dran; 4-6 quarts or so. When I was a tranny mechanic we did this all the time. The Mobil 1 will mix with the stuff that's in there fine.

Sounds good. I think thats what I'm going to do. I don't like the idea of messing with the coolant lines anyways.
