So just got my loaner PCM and swapped it out with mine, super easy removal/install, so you should be seeing mine for tuning soon. Have a question though. I know you guys flash the PCM with the latest GM cal updates, but I was reading in the pamplet that when you update it, you lose everything, thus the reason for the crank relearn. So since I'm turning mine in to avoid the whole crank relearn, does that mean that it won't get the latest GM cal :undecided ?

That is correct.

Check on the chart. You'll see that the loaner program doesn't give you the lastest GM Updates.

Hey thanks, I didn't see that link on the description page until now. Interesting stuff on there, especially the part that says the loaner is designed to be used for only 2 wks, I didn't know it can be timed programmed. Also, it says on there that I have 14 days to return, but the pamphlet says only 7 days......oh well, I'll be sending it back much sooner than that anyways.:D

That is correct,

IF we do a update on the PCM the truck will need a case relearn. What we can do, since yours is a 2006 is we can SPS it for new updates. IF the truck needs a CASE relearn it will trip a light and your dealer should be able to do a relearn on it but they will not be able to over write it. This is because you can't over write a current program in the PCM with GM's software. It will only let you over write old outdated software.

If this is the way you want to go send a message to Kelly@pcmforless.com with this note and she will take care of it for you.

I think I'll just leave it as planned so I won't need to do a CASE relearn. So in the future if there needs to be an update on the PCM, I would need to send it to you guys again to be re-tuned in order to get the updates?

I was wondering the same thing "I would need to send it to you guys again to be re-tuned in order to get the updates?"

I was interested in getting this tune, but had the same concerns, since it could get pricey to get updates since you would have to pay for the re-tune w/updates, then have to pay for a case relearn. How often in general is it req'd to update your PCM?

I'm not sure I understand you guy's question.

A Case relearn is required

When you install a new PCM in the truck, You can swap between PCM's as long as they have been Learned for your truck (pcm learns truck, truck does not learn PCM)

When we do the latest GM updates.

A CASE relearn is not required because of

Me tuning the truck

Make revisions to the tune, say you send it back because you installed a header

Further, Most reflashes do to changes in the setup, or new modifications since first tune are $25-$50 MAX. Reflashes due to some error of ours are always free. These reflashes do not require case relearns.

We do not promise free retunes for life. The reason is we have found it to be a bad for both the customer and the tuner. Some people will take advantage of the system, and its hard for us to keep from staying overwhelmed. Therefore to put a check on how many retunes we do, we charge a very small amount. It also is good for everyone because it keeps us motivated to do the best job possible.

Alvin, I have your tune and love it. My only ? is how much is a retune if I add a new mod? $25 or $50? Or does it depend on the mod?

I was talking about for future PCM updates req'd by GMC for some reason. From what I understand, if updates are done on the PCM, it requires you to re-flash it, which erases the CASE data and would require you to get a CASE relearn done. So the concern was that if for some reason something was messed up with GMC and they req'd an update on our PCM to fix a problem, we would need to go thru you guys since we wouldn't want them to erase our tunes. So the cost would be your re-tune price + CASE relearn cost if updates were req'd. I understand the whole no free tunes for life, cause you guys need to make a living too :D .

Actually, we are pretty understanding on that type of situation and normally handle a re-load of the old tune, on the new OS for cost of shipping.

Awesome! I appreciate it (Alvin talking here). We normally charge $25, $50 is reserved for mostly the camaro guys or TBSS guys that might go with a new cam, different displacment, heads, etc. THeres not much the I6 guys can do, therfore its pretty safe to say the reflash will be $25
