Those in-line magnafines are a great idea. Ford also sells a magnafine rebadged as motorcraft. You'd have to cut out a section of our steel cooler tubing to fit one, but fitment shouldn't be an issue.

Actually, this would be almost a plug and play mod with the use of the fittings blu ya posted awhile back: http://www.transmissioncoolers.us/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=397&Category_Code=cooler-fittings&Product_Count=2
two of those fittings a magnafine filter, some trans cooler hose, 4 hose clamps and you are set. All you'd have to do is pop out one of the two short sections of hard-tubed cooler lines to the radiator. Each line has an OEM push-lock fitting at the radiator and one about a foot away near the P-steering pump. The line closest to the airfilter box would be the cleanest install (less bends and rubber tubing needed) You could then just zip-tie the magnafine to the solid plumbed feed line.

A magnet in the pan will accomplish the same thing, without added cost or adding two more possible leak points in the system.
I haven't done dropped my pan yet, are there not magnets in the TB pans?

This is an additional inline filter, not just a magnet. There is a magnet in the trans pan as well. I've seen people install these inline filters on their power steering systems. Super anal I know, but maybe it makes them last longer.
