Ok guys we just bought an 03 Envoy XL. I was wondering if it will pull my show truck and trailor? It is a 69 C-10 so it is pretty heavy. Will I need helper bags? Thanks in advance for the help!

Hey Brad ...Welcome to the site!
V8 or I6? How far? Hills? Mountains?
Depending upon your gearing you can tow 5000 -6000 lbs.
Got a trany cooler?
Trailer brakes? Brake control mounted inside the cab?
(Little SUV's can't stop very well pulling big weights)
Air bags or equalizing hitch may be the least of the problems.
Good Luck!

well it is the I6 I dont have a tranny cooler yet, unless it came with one. I am in TN so there will be hills. The trailor will have trailor brakes, I havent bought it yet. I think the truck is pushing the 6000lbs mark without the trailor!!

what he means is that with the trailer and vehicle you'll be able to pull about 6k lbs. But I don't know if that's the true weight. I'll have to check when I get to work, or yo can go on the GMS web site and it should tell you exactly how many pounds you can tow. Keep in mind that the 2wheel drive can tow more weight than the 4wheel drive version.

Wow tough one. You are maxed out. Wouldn't want to tow without the right setup. The I6 will pull it but the rest of the truck will give you some headaches if you don't max out the cooling and braking.
You really need the 4.10 gear set to play with that kind of weight. The glove box has a sticker with lots of codes on it.
Look for a match to these.
Gt4 =3.73
Gt5 =4.10
Gu6 =3.42
The rest of the guys will probably put their two cents in later. Scarabepic tows lots too. But your talking over 6000 lbs now :eek: and that is Tahoe/ Suburban material.
Cheers,
Bill

COOOLLLL 69 C-10. Nice!
I have a 64 C-20 Longbed. Talk about bumpy ride and granny gear and 8 lug nut wheels

Sounds to my like you'll need something fullsize. With that much weight you risk the trailer driving the Envoy!!

ALright thanks guys I was hoping to not have to buy a fullsize. But it sounds like I might have to. Oh well, guess I will have to bum a tough till i get some dough.

If you were only pulling it around town (short distances, low speeds etc) then I wouldn't worry but on the highway with crosswinds, Semi winds etc that much weight would make for white nuckle driving in the Envoy.
